Christian Fischer is still young. Okay, he only had 15 goals last year, but I won't be surprised to see him score 25 this year. Decent second line winger in the making |

WTF is Strome on the 4th Line
they put him out for PP and he scores...only then to be relegated to the 4th line
I think Tocchet was punched in the head too many times
Saw this kid play in the OHL - he is the real dealio...
if your not going to play him
Trade him

And agreed on the fact that Strome is misused. I would still love to see something along the lines of:
Galchenyuk - Stepan - Keller
Grabner - Strome - Fischer
Perlini - Dvorak - Hinostroza
Crouse - Richardson - Cousins
When everyone healthy. Likely not gonna happen. |

With everyone healthy that still looks like a team that will miss the playoffs. |

Controlled 60% of the play when he was on the ice.
So 1 shot attempt per period...

I think there is no argument there
Anybody (other than Tanner) thought they would be remotely close ? |

Yes. Tanners alt account did.....er I mean that one coyotes fan on this site that says he's a mathematician and because of Corsi the yotes not will be but are a playoff team. Also the yotes can't be powerfully unlucky all season. |

I don't see how you could have given Tocchet a chance, 90 games is too small a sample size. |

I appreciate the callout. Yes the coyotes are still likely to make the playoffs, based on their underlying stats (please spare me the ridiculous arguments against analytics, and read a book). And if anyone actually watched them, you would see a legitimately good team that hounds their opponents, plays sound defense and is now starting to create offense.
People can argue that all they want but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Borderline playoff team this year, solid playoff team next year. |

The lines should be:
Crouse - Galch - Keller
Perlini - Stepan - Fischer
Grabner - Strome - Hinostroza
Cousins - Richardson - Panik
I actually love the first line, and think Crouse is a good complement.
Second and third lines are nearly interchangeable with maybe a few more defensive assignments for Steps line. and I like Strome with Grabner 1) Grabner has proven to be a poor mans marian hossa...unbelievable defense from the wing which helps someone like Strome 2) he is lightning quick and Strome will find him on the breakout.
4th line needs to be played less and in defensive situations. Right now tochett wants Richie on the opponents top line, but we need to realize our top 3 lines will be just fine against top opponents. |

I think that their roster has a chance to compete...without Tochett at the helm. That said, advanced stats have their place, but don't always equal success. The team that's better at "scoring" goals is usually gonna win. Like, anyone can shoot a puck.....scoring is a much different. |

“Advanced stats have their place, but the don’t always equal success”
Ugh...if you only knew how ridiculous that statement is. Advanced stats are specfically pointing at probabilities, which means that the advanced stats are not guaranteeing success, they are predicting success with a certain percentage of likelihood. No one is saying that advanced stats equal success...they literally tell you that sometimes they won’t be successful (or a statistical model with 90% accuracy, means that 10% of the time they won’t be accurate...or will not lead to success).
That doesn’t mean you don’t use advanced stats! It just means you should be looking for the most accurate one; and consistently building more accuracy.
Posts like this always baffle me. It’s not even a debate...it’s literally just as true as 1+1=2 and then having a bunch of numbskulls tell you “yea but what if you write it in cursive, then what”......uhhhhhh |

I’m honored that you think so. But I have been commenting on here for years and years, and definitely argued that Duclair WAS NOT that good, and Strome was a bust. And being from AZ I have argues with him about the arena situation.
But if being related to Tanner means I am on the right side of the analytics argument, then that is fine by me! |

If I had an alt account I would be instantly fired. Is it really that crazy that there is a user in the comments section that actually understands how probability works? |
