Ron Maclean is awesome. I really like him. I would hate to bring back Strombo, that guy was an absolute goof. Cherry is on his way out, and I am almost positive they are grooming Burke to be his replacement. Hockey Night needs an old school mentality hockey personality, and Burke fits the role.

I know I'm probably in the minority but I'm one of the few who thinks Strombo didn't get a fair shake. The same thing happened when Maclean took over for Hodge way back when people were calling 'Bring Hodge back'! blah blah blah but Maclean was given time to Succeed...Strombo wasn't IMO. They just need a change and agree that includes Cherry. I mentioned Burke replacing Cherry a week or two ago so agree it could happen like you said. I lost all respect for Maclean with his anti-Canuck campaign from 2011.

Plus a few years back when Red Deer (Maclean's home town) hosted the Allan Cup, he was asked by the Allan cup Committee to come back to RD to do a speaking appearance at one of the events. Maclean and his agent said 'I ain't going back to Red Deer for the Allan Cup for any less than $100,000 for a 24 hr appearance'

He wouldn't even come back to his own home town for a day for less than 100K

Now that's a goof.

I wasn't aware of that story, but I imagine, due to his contract obligations, that he isn't able to make charitable appearances as easy as most.
