Nylander is out - accept it.
Miller is a RHD, top4. Great skater, bit more physical than Gardiner, and a great shot on the PP.
He's cheaper as well than Gardiner - whom the Leafs will lose after this season.
Glass can play in NHL next year - and is at least as good as a player (in 2y) than Nylander is now.

The point is that Nylander is very likely not going to play for Leafs this season, and traded away.

- plantheparade

So that settles it, nylander signed within the next day.

They probably were trying to take advantage of LV's slow D....Babcocks system is fine they are 10-5 relax.
- Santo_44

Jesus, hes relaxed (or appeats to be) just because they are 10-5 doesnt mean eveything is perfect or even close to it. People are allowed to point out things that are worrisome to them or in general.

Hes right, the leafs get a little pressure and either dump the puck or try to make a stretch pass that most times doesnt connect. It look like oz didnt connect with any of his passes last night.
But they won, theyre gonna play and sometimes win sloppy games, its hockey.
Andersen won them the game, like hes suppose to once in a while.
Marner, oh boy...his cap hit is going up every game.
Hes so good.

What date did Trouba sign the year he was holding out.

I personally would let him sit a year. If I was the Dubas.

Rantanen and Ahos deals will be interesting too. Kinda hope those guys sign first as a benchmark for Marner, there’s not as much talk as them getting 10 plus like the media brings up every game for marner.

Dubas franked it up anyway with his "we'll be able to sign all three of them for sure".

Marner will be close to 10mln now (while before this season, 8mln/year on a long term contract was considered most on here as rich already).

Bobby mac made a good point last night, look at kucherovs and seguins deals, is marner better than either? Or does he deserve more than either?
It is believed that marner wants to be the last to sign.

Sometimes I wonder if Kasperi Kapanen is the next Michael Grabner. Blinding speed without the finish to match.

- Fruitcakenipple

Grabner has scored at a rate of 23/82gm in his career and has a career sh% of 13% which is above average.

Seems about right to me.

So Marner signs after the Leafs put Horton back on LTIR next year?

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a deal negotiated in principle but it gets delayed due to that come opening day next year.

Other question is do we trade 'flick shot' gardiner at the TDL, move Dermott up in the lineup, and call up Rosen?

Yeah he doesn’t deserve as much as those guys at all as he’s not as good as either imo, not sure what his deal will look like but it will be another tough one for Dubas. Rantanen will be an interesting deal I think. The guys been on fire last year and this year, but how does he take 4 million more then Mackinnon? Obviously deals signed at different times but it’s be kind of funny having Rantanen making 10 plus and Mackinnon at his 6.5 or whatever he’s on.

I just didn't know that about his father.

I knew he had a history of holding out on contracts but didn't know he had a bad reputation as a teamate.

Marner will be a top10 player in league 2 years from now.
He deserves to be paid 9-10million on a 8y deal.

I know you love your players and Marner is great.

But come on Max.... there are 30 other teams with great players as well.

Crosby dies in 2 years? Mackinnon and Hall both get AIDS?
