Let's say the Leafs pay Nylander 12-8-7-6-6-6, he gets 45 million over 6 years with a cap hit of 7.5 million dollars. Except if he signs on November 30, that means his cap hit for this year would be 11 million and his cap hit in all subsequent years will be 6.8 million.

They will have to pay the same for Marner, because he is better than Matthews.

There is no room for Nylander.

It depends on where, or how much you value him.
Is he ahead of Rielly and Andersen? Is he ahead of Marner/Matthews/Tavares?
Is he valued equally to Nazem Kadri?

The motive for releasing a legally recorded conversation is irrelevant. Their comments were news and were released as news. Uber policy only says that drivers need to adhere to local policy laws and the driver did so as Arizona is a single party release jurisdiction - either party to a recorded conversation can release it.
