I think Nylander is closer to Marner, then Mitch is to Matthews

Can someone who has actually watched and/or followed Brett Pesce please give me the lowdown on his play? Is he a 1 or 2 dman? The talks with Carolina appear to continue and I haven’t heard much about this guy until recent.

He's more of a Zaitsev with less blunders

Worst thing this organization ever did was to rebuild.

It'll be the death of them. Never had these issues back in 2013

I feel:

- Matthews will take 11
- Marner will take 8
- Willie will take it in the ass and sit out. or the offer of 6.2

yeah, exactly.

Why would they bother scouting the Leafs if they were not prepared to pay Nylander and they know for sure what he is asking.

The interesting part is who exactly are they scouting on the Leafs and what do the deals being discussed look like?

- Aetherial

GardinOrr, the Canes scouts are there to count how many turnovers in a game he commits. If it ever gets below 12 per game, they will take him in the Nylander trade.

absolutely

everyone was was like ..oh the Leafs have to rebuild..blah blah blah

Now we are stuck with all these good players we have to (frank)ing pay..

- senstroll

Yeah, we should never discuss this kind of stuff.

There has to be some place where people can calmly discuss and debate stuff like this.

Easily imo. Matthews is on a different level. Marners great, exciting and seems really likeable but Matthews is something else

It’s intriguing.

Is it just a small piece like Johnson or Lievo?

Or could it be more major like Kap or Gardiner?

I've really changed my view on Kapanen. He might never be a superstar, but he seems to keep improving. He has some significant value I think.

I do wonder about Gardiner though. It seems like the obvious choice since I don't think the Leafs can keep him either.

Solid defensive play. Has better hands than you would expect but uses them to get out of trouble and break up plays more than to create offense.

Think Vlasic, but not as good a skater. He doesn't make many mistakes.

They wouldn't be very smart if they traded both Willie and Kap.

Whatever it is it feels like it's going to have to be pretty big.

Well Dubas is the dumbest GM of all time for not signing all three to contracts yet, so this is to be expected.

I could see Gardiner taking a team friendly contract.

But if not...yes I think Dubas would be pretty interested in trading him.

I hate Speculating on huge deals because it’s too hard to find realistic value. But if it is truly a huge deal the options are endless.

Could it be Nylander, Gardiner in a deal that brings back Faulk and Pesce? With other pieces involved.

Could it be that Dubas is Kean on not losing a top offensive threat and wants Tuervainen?

I have no clue

Does Teravainen actually change much though? Aside from the fact that he's actually playing and Nylander isn't, you're still getting a pending RFA coming off of a 64 point season that's going to command ~$7 Million per year.

Probably not.

That’s why I hate to guess...but the options are thin behind him and Aho in terms of offense.
