Jets need to put their loyalty in Little on the back burner and shuffle him down the lineup. Try someone who thinks the pace of play and can finish as fast as Laine and Ehlers/Connor can. Little is just a step behind, and if we're strictly looking for offence I believe the 2-way Little should get bumped down to make room for an experiment. Another young gun. Roslovic is a thought, but I'd go more off the board with someone like Appleton or Vesalainen if they have what it takes to win draws at even a 45% level for the rest of the shift involved. Little's contract (extension) is a thorn in my side as a lifelong jets fan (you know, BEFORE they were coyotes). Leadership and locker room guys have a place, but they don't need to make $5M+ and be top-6. Chevy, I just want a 1-game experiment. See what happens man. Gotta try something to unleash the beast that is Patrik Laine! |

I don’t even wanna be mad at Myers anymore. This is an unusual and hilarious amount of mistakes, even for him? and we’re not even 20 games in. I’m starting to wonder if he’s a victim of the Jets inability to find him a partner that has even the slightest knowledge of what defence is. Enstrom would be incredibly helpful here.
My dream tonight:
Morrissey-Trouba
Niku-Byfuglien
Enstrom-Myers |
|
|

I don't see Morrow as the weak link there.
But it is nice to see the Little/Laine/Conner line picking it up.

I'd take a deadline acquisition of Edler if Chevy could pull it off.

Really- I was not aware of that. Last shot with a contender though- he could always pull a Tkachuk. |

That's what I was hoping for, but even Benning has gone on record in the past saying he views Edler as the "3rd Sedin" and won't ask him to waive out of respect. |

Connor is Laine's saving grace .. at least until further notice (it is a long season) ... Connor is the driver on that line - Laine becoming the finisher - Little is serviceable for the time being
Laine's "problem" is mostly in his head ... Pete - you and I have boys/young men this age - we know how this works ... also - teams are focusing on him and the better teams will be better focusing on him ... I thought Laine played well last night ... and I thought Connor is the reason why
I previously said 'stop the line juggling' - I was wrong
Now we have to focus on 4th line wing and bottom D pairing ... Petan just is not the answer - Lemiuex I'm less than 50/50 on - and Vesalinen is developing ... Morrow & Myers is not the end game and - YES - Enstrom would be an upgrade on Morrow if only for 60 games reg season and zero games, playoffs
As long as we keep position at or very very near Top 5 league - we have time to figure these things out

Petan has absolutely been the answer.
That 4th line with Petan, Roslovic, and French Jesus has been flying all over the ice.
There’s something for everyone in his performance so far: leads the entire team in Corsi (small sample size), Mo gushed about him, and he’s visibly creating scoring chances for everyone he’s played with.
On a side note: Enstrom would upgrade the entire blue line as a whole, not just Myers. There’s a legitimate argument to be made that for 43 games last year, Tobias Enstrom was the #1 shutdown dman in the NHL |

Not normally my style to call a guy (or guys) out on comments, but Toby was small, not physical, and offensively inept. His claim to fame was using a stick that was a foot too long. If he was even remotely the defender that "select advanced stats" made him out to be, why couldn't he find a paycheque with any of the other 30 teams? Enstrom is gone, and I'm very happy about that. Now Myers is public enemy #1 on the back end. Defenders make mistakes. Like Buff coasting in to the hashmarks to blast one into shin pads which resulted in a breakaway and SHG against. With 4 forwards deep, he needs to blast that from the blueline and be responsible. Where are the torches and pitchforks?
It's easy to point out mistakes from where we sit. It's more difficult to fix these things. Even NHLers have shortcomings in their game. You can't chase a guy out of town unless you have a replacement who is better. Myers will go at the deadline. Niku or Poolman will be ready if need be. |

Laine played a 200' game last night and got the points/rewards for it. He was engaged in all ends of the ice. Keep doing that and comments on his performance woes will only be from his girlfriend |

random comments on some of the posts how I see it, just my opinion.
-I don't think Appleton will ever be an NHL center, he's not good enough, possibly a bottom 6 winger down the road but also possible he's an AHL lifer.
-Petan, although zero points has been miles ahead of what Lemieux did, I don't mess with that line at all.
-Enstrom like Chariot now looked better than he was because of Buff, when he played with Myers, they were very bad in our end.
-Myers like I've always said is a bottom pair D and he needs a better partner than Morrow.
-I'm starting to wait for Pete, Rexy and all of Dano's fan club on Twitter to admit they were wrong about him, I'll probably be waiting a while. Dano was given a shot on the Avs 2nd line, failed. now he's in and out of the line up on the 4th line producing absolutely nothing. He could not have gone to a team with less forward depth than the Avs and he can not crack a full time job. what does that tell ya? and don't tell me its another coach's fault. lol
-loving the 2nd line!!!! |

Well said. I will put my Myers fan club credentials on the table and let it be known that he is a useful player on any blueline and is still young enough to be improving his defensive play. I have seen giveaways from every Jets defender who was in the lineup yesterday - it is irrational to single out the one by Myers when two players had defensive giveaways that resulted in goals. It's part of the game. Myers is a option most teams would love to have for a 4/5/6 defender. It would make no sense to move him at the deadline on a year when you are planning for a playoff run. |

Ah, yes, the offensively inept dman with two 50 points season, four 30+ point seasons, and an additional two seasons that paced for 50+ and 30+ points, respectively.
We also know he was offered multiple NHL deals, but chose to go home.
Additionally, he wasn’t just good in “select advanced stats”, he was good in basically all of them. Shots against, scoring chances against, high danger scoring chances against, Corsi, and goals against all saw him rank no worse than 15th among NHL dmen, and most were 5th or higher. He even had the fewest giveaways among regular dmen on the team for every single year of his career.
Don’t talk sh!t about Toby. He’s better than us. He’s better than anyone in franchise history except for Byfuglien, and he’s part of the reason Buff even exists as he does now. |
