Skate down the boards, hit the breaks, turn up the boards, get pushed off the puck, puck leaves the zone, Weal goes for line change.
About it? - J35Bacher
He does that same hit the breaks turn move and idk how defenders don’t shut it down every time. |

There's a lot of blame to go around. We'll have to see what happens. A new GM might take the season to evaluate the team. Either way I believe this is Hakstol's last season as Flyers head coach. These players in my opinion, mostly the veterans have seriously let this coach down. They played exactly the way they were supposed to play for 45-50 minutes and then stopped playing. Why can't this team learn lessons? - MJL
According to Jake they got scared. It's really upsetting and surprising to hear that from a highly paid veteran. Emotions are real for everybody, but the coach and the vets should have recognized that and get the emotions in check. I appreciate Jake's honesty, but frustrated with the incompetence. |

I'm almost numb to this mess right now. I'm very disappointed because I feel that its November and the season is written off totally, and the org is in chaos once again.
With upheaval at the higher levels, there's no way the team will succeed. Just makes me sick.
If Dave Scott thinks the bottom line hurt before, watch ticket and merchandise sales in February when the team is out of it.

Burke literally just stated right now on Toronto radio he wants no part of the Philly job, even though " Homer is a dear friend". Burke is happy just doing TV ! So that's a relief - 3flyerkids
From another angle- even Burke won't touch Flyers with a 10 foot poll. |

So all the future is bright/posters who preach patience got the old Charlie Brown trying to kick the football treatment?
So now what? "Team Negative" was right all along? Brutal isn't it? It's a kick to the teeth on a Saturday night with a steel toe kodiak work boot. |

Whoever takes this job is walking into a pretty nice situation. You have cap space, prospects, and a roster that isn't nearly as bad as it should be. |

Meh, I wouldn't go that far. I still remain hopeful. There are some wonderful players on this team. I still love watching G and TK has grown so much as a player! I won't give up on them yet. But I also won't bemoan any changes. We obviously know that things have to change. I'll give this new GM a chance. |

Of course age matters. That would benefit the Flyers to trade Drasaitl for Voracek. That's not what you proposed. - MJL
Its the addition of Frost AND Sanheim that has me saying a big firm no.

You also have a mess of mistrust, really high expectations and quick changes. It's like a lobster being cooked alive in Dasani water with the highest quality spices. |

If they add the right GM/coach they can turn things around. The problem is the guy doing the hiring. I have no faith in him hiring the right people. |

This rhetorical and not directed at you but I'll ask the question. Why did they fire the GM then?

These players are now wound so tight that if they swallowed coal, they would crap a diamond.
They need to put the Billy Heywood "Little Big League" locker room speech on endless loop.
They could also use a kangaroo court to fine any player on a 2 (or 3) on 1 who touches the puck below the blue line in which a shot ON goal is not registered. |

Because they wanted him to do more with the nice situation he created. And yes, I know it's idiotic |

Because you can't be "unyielding" AND not winning.
If the Flyers were in first place, Hextall could be his stubborn self and say patience is the way.
When your not winning and your also not flexible, almost so much that you have a toxic workplace, then you don't get the time.
Basically you can be a Richard all you want as long as you produce results. |

I know it was rhetorical. But it seems to me it was because of a LOT of Off ice stuff. The way he ran the personnel. And his unwillingness to do ANYTHING to improve the team due to playing it too safe and holding on to too many cards.
People up the chain wanted some tweaks, some deals made to shake it up, and Hexy seemed unwilling to do so and he lost the power struggle to people who were infinitely more powerful than he.
Almost as concerning to me are these multiple reports of how he ran the day to day. The work environment, the unwillingness to listen to others or entertain other points of view that differed from his own.

Personally, I think the unyeilding angle is a bunch of crap . That's just the spin nonsense they came up with. |

Im not so sure. The proof is in the pudding so to speak. Jay Greenberg laid it out pretty nicely.

I doubt Hextall was any different from day 1. This is about business and a lack of patience.

Ok. Your thoughts.
I actually I believe Holmgren on this one. I think if the team was winning and showing growth on the ice then he would be here.

Fair enough. I think that Holmgren understood Hexy's vision, but there is an art to communication and negotiation. And I don't think Hexy had that. So my hope is that they get a good negotiator and then surround him with the minds who can truly understand what they have, what they need, and have a good grasp on evaluating talent outside the organization. |

I don't think Greenberg was inaccurate in how Hextall was. I just don't buy that the unyielding is why he was fired. I think it was about winning now and ticket sales |

Exactly.
He wasn't flexible. "Unyielding" .
He could be that way another 10 years if he was winning. You can't be that way if your inconsistent and show no flexibility. |
