ESPN has an interview with Skinner up. It's mostly bad, but this is in there:
ESPN: You're a UFA after this season. In a perfect world, how would you like this whole thing to play out?
SKINNER: My agents and I agreed that we would put it on hold until things were more settled because there was so much to adjust to. There's no sense in bringing in anything else that's not needed to be brought into the fold. It's gone pretty well for me, not have to think about that kind of thing. And I think that's how I think it's going to continue to be. When they talk later on, things will work themselves out. But for me, the focus is on playing hockey. These things usually work out for the best.
So hopefully Skinner's camp decides they're ready to talk soon. I hope GMJB is already ready already. |

My apologies to Pachyderm for hijacking the thread, but did this get a lot of play on the Buffalo news?
http://www.wbrc.com/2018/...y-stadium-arena-upgrades/
And to be clear - nobody is talking new arena, correct? It's about upgrades?
Would they put a stadium downtown? Boy I sure would miss Orchard Park, said no one ever.
Although I guess the tailgating would have to simmer down a little. |

Jeff Skinner-Jack Eichel-Sam Reinhart
Tage Thompson-Casey Mittelstadt-Kyle Okposo
Remi Elie-Evan Rodrigues-Vladimir Sobotka
Patrik Berglund-Johan Larsson-Zemgus Girgensons
Okposo hasn't played great but he hasn't played terrible either. I think he has rebounded from last year so that he is again effective, but certainly not worth 6M.
I mentioned this last thread, but would like to see Reinhart moved down to the second line, and (with Pommer out) Okposo on the first. Would be good to get Okposo scoring more points on that line, and I would like to see Thompson (who I've dogged in the past but am starting to get more and more excited for), Mitts and Sam on a line together. That younger talent could be fun. |

Michael Pachla: Looking to get back into the win column after two straight losses - Michael Pachla
Sabres need to come out hard tonight. Like, really, really hard.
Regardless of the score, they need to keep skating as fast as they can. And then hit the weight room right after the game, holding bench press and squats competition.
Loser has to buy the entire team lunch and a lot of drinks at Cheesecake Factory tomorrow. |

I went to the Bills game in Miami yesterday
Miami did a lot of renovations to their stadium
Putting a stadium downtown is a terrible idea IMO, there isn't a good infrastructure to get 65,000 people in and out of.
Keep it in OP.
The Key Bank Center needs serious renovations as well. |

Yeah, if you actually crunch the numbers, it never makes sense to build new when you can renovate - unless you can get state and local governments to pay the vast majority.
From what I understand, NY State has been rather cool to that idea. |

They just hired some private consultants, which is barely news in my mind. No talk of new arena that I've heard of. Conversation of where a new Stadium could be located has gone on within the Buffalo community, generally, for years now. This little bit of news that a consultant has been hired hasn't changed or reignited that conversation at all, as far as I've seen.

#Packers prez Mark Murphy compares Mike McCarthy’s situation to that of Andy Reid a few years ago. They know he can coach. It was just time for a new voice and maybe time for a mid-career reset for McCarthy a la Reid from Philly to KC.
Think he could help Allen? |

It will start to heat up soon as there is only 5 years left on the Ralph. With the time it will take to plan, approvals, funding, building, etc... they have to start making real decisions in the next year. |

From what I understand it's closer than that may let on. Until he signs, he will say that UFA is a possibility, but I've heard he wants to resign here. Likes it. Likes playing with Jack. We're going to push 7M, he will push 9M, and 8M will be the compromise.
Isn't 100%, but have heard too much to think he's genuinely looking forward to UFA only. |

Yeah, but...
Add to that why Skinner wanted to go to July 1 in the first place. Jeff has made it quite obvious to friends and others over the years he would love to be a Maple Leaf and that matters to him in a major way I am told.
