They had a hole in the middle even with Coots in the lineup, without him that hole becomes the grand canyon. If he’s out long term, I hope Fletcher can convince the team brass the obvious: this team is (frank)ed for 18-19 and it’s time to sell between now and the deadline.

Coots out is huge. He does the heavy lifting on this team. They tend to look horrible without him.

I think they're going to look at it, realize this is just one of those poop years, and not do anything short-term.

I think Hextall pissed them off by hinting he wasn't going to do anything at all after not doing enough over the summer. But i think they know they probably can't fix the goaltending in-season

That line could theoretically crash the net or something, but there's nobody to really transition and gain entry.

Jake (or even TK) could help with that.

Patrick's so good around the net. If his linemates can put rubber on net w/ him standing around the crease, he's gonna score a lot of goals. Ditto JVR. Ditto Simmer.

I think Patrick's game in the future is going to be more about puck carrying and distribution. He'll score some goals. That's what they really need. Another playmaking center.

That's assuming JVR brings nothing to the equation. In that case weve got a bigger problem on our hands.
