Hanifin 23 points +7 in 43 games
Hamilton 13 points -13 in 40 games
Wasn’t Douglas supposed to be the more offensive better Defenseman and hopefully Hanifin could become dougie one day lol |

Let's not forget Dougie's first season here as well - by no means do I think we did anything but win that trade, but Dougie took a year (and Gio) to round into form. Same could be true in Carolina... |

By this argument one could say that Hanifin could round into form better next year as well ? |

Oh sure, pair him with Gio
Just saying that Dougie might be a guy that needs to settle in - on a 3 game goal streak now.. lol |

We don't need a meathead, and that's what Kassian is. This team is already decently tough and we have some guy named Bennett who isn't afraid to drop them with anybody. As for Bieksa being a 7th D, don't really see the point because again, we don't necessarily need him. If you're going for big tough defenseman, there's plenty of guys who are still playing NHL hockey that we could probably get.
I'm not too worried about us being bullied. We can play the gritty physical game already and have won several games doing so. No need to go get meatheads to answer a bell. - Helios
Picking up any D from other teams is going to cost you. Prout hasn't done the job as of yet. I was thinking the same about Bieksa, he's free, sign him for the rest of the year, good insurance, he's definitely an agitator that could come in handy during the playoffs. Kassian? I'd have a hard time cheering for that. He's playing top line in Edmonton or at least that's where he started last game. Probably going to cost more than Czarnik, but it is Peter. The guys such a douschbag! |

Hanifin is also younger and signed long term...Then we have Lindholm who is the best player in the deal |

F()ck Bieksa. What does he bring to the table? - jessehub
goals against
I think he and Sbisa as a pairing allowed 50% or more of the goals against in the playoff series when the Flames beat the Canucks in round 1 in the Hartley/Desjardins era.
pretty crazy to imagine one d pairing giving up more goals than the other 2 d pairings combined They basically handed that series to the Flames on a platter |

Big thanks to Ferkland
ferland did most of damage against that crappy pairing that made him look like prime Bertuzzi, the rest of the defense did just fine against him
Problem was that idiot Desjardins was playing them 20 mins a game |

He targeted Bieksa for sure, he was looking for a guy whose skin he could get under and he found him.
Willie definitely handed that pairing too many minutes, but it wasn't like he was rolling with Karlsson/Burns in his top 4 either. |
