I can't help but conclude that at the time of signing his contract, his intention was to only play two years. How the hell else can you explain the weird structure?
Bump him down the lineup.
He's still an NHL player, but he's not playing up to "Marleau levels" of hockey. I know he knows that. And he can't be happy about it. - Atomic Wedgie
I think they didn’t really expect to have to pay Marner like they will. He was on pace to make the same as Nylander and he just blew up. Which isn’t a bad thing...
But also that was Lou’s decision. There is a very good chance Dubas would of done a few things differently and maybe that’s one thing. |

We ran Kessel out of town. “You can’t win with Kessel”
Then he goes out and wins two cups. It really just shows you how stupid Leaf fans can be.
And yep, It’s the sheer size of our fan base. More people=more idiots. Sadly I think there are more idiots in this modern day era due to the internet. - Santo_44
No. Again bs.
We "the fans" didnt run kessel out of town.
He was traded cause management was going in a new direction. He was traded to a cup.contender where he wasnt the star player and he succeeded. As all true fans knew he would. |

Can we be angry at someone else now? Let me first acknowledge that it's a team game, and they have been losing as a team. That being said, there's still someone I am more than willing to throw under the bus.
For me, that's Marleau. In the last 10 games, he has 1 Goal and is -12. For some quick comparables: Nylander has 1 G and is -5. Kadri has 3A and is -3. Johnsson, for what it's worth, has 3G. 5A and is +5; Matthews has 1G, 8A and is -5; Marner leads the way with 8G 4A and is +3 with Tavares who's 6G/6A +5.
People don't like to use +/- but in the microcosm of comparable situations, it's still a useful tool. It's time to reduce Marleau's role. The problem is that with his ironman streak, you can't really bench him without it blowing up . . . but he has just plain sucked. - Monkeypunk
For me, it's the whole Marleau-Kadri-Nylander line that has failed to show up for a while now..
We need to get this line going.. I don't know what it is, but all three of them don't seem to be interested in the game.. Kadri's giveaway on the 2nd goal was absolutely brutal. |

I don't see Babs doing it, but I'd put Lindholm in the box for a game, let Moore play on the third line in place of Marleau, and drop Marleau to the 4th. Someone like Moore has the speed and energy to disrupt play and hopefully create some room so that Nylander and Kadri can actually get going. That line needs a catalyst. |

Ya, I don't understand this. I don't remember Kessel getting run out of town. Larry Murphy, sure, but not Kessel. I think it was more Kessel's team making themselves look foolish and forcing management to blow it up... which was the best thing to happen to the Leafs in decades... (Remember stickgate?) |

Equally as bad as the Gards giveaway, IMO. Only thing I can defend that with was that it was Raant. It's not like he let Matt Martin pull that poop.
But in all reality I still can't defend it. It was a horrible play. |

Marleau has been invisible. Nylander has had a few good 'bursts' but can't sustain anything, he has also missed some obvious defensive assignments that led directly to goals... |

And they better be prepared. The team seems to play their best when they're mad.
Kadri steps up. Matthews steps up.
I hope to see a bit of a fire under their ass for Tampa. If it works, it's going to be a hell of a game. |

He’s not fast either, gets beat lots. Oh well, I wouldn’t have let him talk to the media, he did it after the Bruin game 7, that’s enough IMO - Garnie
I can't imagine how he felt after being booed. I mean where will end? Those poor kids in Syria being booed by both domestic and foreign parties. The infamous booing racket in Eastern Europe selling desperate and underprivileged women to the highest bidder so he and his associates can boo the women for money.
I pray some never attend a footy match. There's lots of boos and jeers that occur there. And while we're on the subject, I feel like "Go Leafs Go" is very offensive to players on the opposition and their feelings are probably hurt every time they play the Leafs.
In this day and age, we need to really think about our actions and how they may hurt someone. Whoever that 5 year old was that wrote "Go Leafs Go" or "Let's Go Lightning" should be utterly ashamed of themselves. |

Kadri's giveaway was brutal... he should know who is on the ice and played it safe, not hesitate like he did and let Rantanen take the puck.
The Gardiner play was bad, all he had to do was skate and he would have easily beaten Soderberg to the puck |

Although the theme song is awesome. |

You honestly believe Jake knew what the (frank) was going on? You Sir, give him far too much credit.

Dunno.
Could it motivate him? Maybe
Could it hurt his ego more? Maybe
Depends on the player maybe.
But either way, not the end of the world.
As i said before, once he completes 1 successful stretch pass out of several attempts....the fans.....oh the fans will cheer again. And the air will be filled with joy.
And gardiner will be happy again.
Or
18 hrs pass and everyone moves on. |
