"I want to test free agency," he told the Blue Jackets website Friday, speaking publicly for the first time since notifying Columbus on Jan. 25 that he would discuss his future after the season. "There is still a chance [I could re-sign with Columbus], but I want to see in the summer if I feel there are better options."
Trade the Mofo immediately. |

It is really too bad we signed Beagle .
This summer we have 36 mil in cap space
Karlsson 12 mil x 7 years
Panarin 10 mil x 7 years
Bobrosky 8 mil x 7 years
If we didn't sign Roussel and Beagle we could have signed Stone 7 mil x 7 years
37 mil only

Fun to dream hey. I'd say no Bob. Stone gonna need 9. If we can toss loui to a team that needs to hit the cap floor that's 6 mil more which enables us to keep hutton. Sutter gone gives brock his money. That team would be almost a Stanley cup contender. Need another dman

I'd take Fabbro but I really don't want or need Fabbro. I'm less impressed than others on him. - manvanfan
I checked into Fabbros numbers - they are/were very similar to Hutton's through their first 3 years in NCAA - BUT in Fabbro 3rd(current) his were much better than BH. They also both played in H East BUT Fabbro has played on a much much better Boston U team and had teammates like Tkachuk, Keller, McAvoy, Bellows, Farabee, Greenway and Hutton played on Maine who were hot garbage all 3 years and their best player was Devin Shore.....sooo thats something |

Fabbro will be better than Ben Hutton.
Same draft as OJ. So if they want a 1st for Fabbro then Van should probably be getting a first back if they chose to trade OJ. |

I was looking up Kaapo Kakko's stats 12 G 11 A in 32 Games 82 nd in scoring .
Is that really a good league or something? Numbers seem underwhelming. |

Horrible. Probably should trade down if they get 2nd spot.
I would what the price would be to trade up for 7-10 to 2nd spot. Another 2nd? Another 1st? It really hasn't been done in forever. |

Flyers acquire defenseman David Schlemko and forward Byron Froese from the Canadiens in exchange for forward Dale Weise and defenseman Christian Folin.
I am heading to the Flyers/Ducks Matinee, so I will have more rumors from the Press Box in a few hours...

The news on Ferland as of lately is the team is in talks to find a way to extend him, but many believe this is more about the Canes wanting it out there that they are more than willing no to move him UNLESS teams start putting forward offers that are more in the ballpark...

I like this draft . Hughes is number 1 and top center, and people here want to move him to wing.
Kakko has Jake Virtanen numbers and we don't know who is ranked 3

Unless the Canucks win the lottery, 1-2-3, they won't have shot at Kappo, obviously, but I'd love to have him. Rantanen, Aho, Barkov, all comparibles.
"Kakko is a brilliant east-west player with great puck protection instincts and excellent anticipation of where the puck will be. He is a more complete player than Laine. Laine has impeccable shooting abilities, but at the NHL level isn't quick or agile enough to contribute effectively on the forecheck. Kakko covers the ice very well, has great creativity, and generates chances on a consistent basis. He can put the puck on a string at lower levels, and he is starting to do that in Liiga as well. His edge work is terrific, and he has great control of the puck. His passes are crisp, his stick-handling is among the best of this year's draft class, and he makes smart decisions.
I look for hockey IQ, otherwise known as hockey intuition, above all else: how effectively can one intercept pucks; how quickly can they get to a loose puck to put pressure on the opposition; what kinds of plays do they make when they have the puck; is the player in a smart position when their teammate has the puck; do they anticipate well and, in turn, dominate possession with intelligent positioning? Skill set comes second to hockey IQ because IQ determines success. Kakko has a high degree of both.
I would put him in that top tier of Finnish prospects. I think he'll be in the NHL next season." |

A perfect statement as to why Virtanen will never be a great player, great skill set, extremely low hockey IQ. |
