Agreed on Brock Nelson and Ferland. How about Nick Jensen as an under the radar RHD? - kingcong39
I put him on there bc he’s be a nice fit
Can play Center or Wing on line 2 or 3,
so he’s got nice versatility
But Trotz & the Isles supposedly like him a lot and wanna keep him
Kinda strange they haven’t worked out an extension yet though- so maybe? |

Would Toffoli be available for a Jeff Skinner like trade this past offseason? He's not nearly as good as Skinner and he too has one year left before being a UFA, which means how much is Toffoli going to want to get paid, especially if he has a giant year on Eichel's wing?
I originally thought something like the Blues 1st, Sabres 2021 2nd, Guhle, and Thompson for Toffoli and Kempe was about right, but it seems like too much after checking Toffoli's production, despite the Kings black hole of offense. - kingcong39
I thought I saw something from Homie that the Kings are going to re-build so picks and prospects would go the other way. Your trade idea fits to what LA would probably want but instead of Tage I wonder if we could add Sheary or Nylander. I think there are pieces to get Toffoli and Kempe. I like Forbort as well.

If the deal is made in the offseason, I can see it being a lesser prospect instead of Thompson. Maybe Asplund to fill what would be Kempe's center position?
Why would they take Sheary back?
Isn't Forbort an LHD? Does that mean moving Dahlin to the right side, potentially? |

Yeah...
with Toffoli’s production down so much,
I definitely don’t think we should be giving up anything great for him
Definitely not a 1st
Also... idk if he’s the right “fit” for us
I could see him scoring goals with Jack & Skinner- but a 74 year old Pommer is even doing that right now
I think we could play just about anyone in that slot & have them be productive...
so i don’t wanna dedicate that much Cap $$$ to that spot unless it’s for a stud like Stone
Toffoli also isn’t the speediest guy,
and Botts continues to say we need to get faster up front
So he doesn’t seem like the answer to me,
UNLESS we get him really cheap (like Skinner)
In that case... sure, why not? |

Guhle, Nylander, SJS 1st and one of Sheary/Sobotka/Scandella as a cap dump from our end. |

Unless his value is way down due to lesser production and pending UFA status after next season, it feels like adding a cap dump would mean needing to up the prospect quality. Maybe Asplund instead of Nylander. |

Very well could be. Or perhaps we add the STL 2021 2nd rounder as well and the kings add a 4th rounder on their end. |

I'd rather give them the Sabres 2021 2nd instead of the Blues second as I'm hoping/thinking the Sabres will be better than the Blues by that time. |

I thought throw Sheary in the deal to somewhat even out the cap and maybe the Kings would want him. Forbort is a LD, I just like him, not suggesting we get him. It has to be a deal that works for both sides.

Understood.
My thought was by not making the cap even out and taking on the entirety of Toffoli's cap hit, it would mean potentially less going the other way. |

Toffoli, Kempe, Clifford and 2020 4th rd pick for 2019 1st(St Louis), 2020 2nd rd pick, Guhle and Scandella. |

Yea that seems reasonable. Perhaps we need to add another prospect whether it’s Nylander/Asplund/Smith and maybe Scandella could be Sheary but the overall structure seems to be realistic. |

2021 2nd as Buffalo has 2 instead of the 2020 2nd, and they would definitely want another prospect back with the inclusion of Scandella. |

The Kings need help on LD so they get a nice prospect and a vet to stabilize that side and get a 1st in a good draft plus a 2nd to help their future. We get the RW we need for Eichel, a nice young player in Kempe, a tough player in Clifford that we need plus a pick that we could move down the road. Getting Clifford would mean that we can re-shape that 4th line, move Girgs or Larry and preferably waive Slobotka.
Skinner-Eichel-Toffoli
Sheary-Mitts-Reinhart
Smith-Kempe-Erod
Clifford-Larry-Tage
We could still consider moving Sheary++ and get Rakell. |

I like your thought process but Botts sticking Pominville and Okposo in the press box is as good of a chance as winning the Power Ball.

Send Smith back down to Rochester, Send Sobotka to the Caman Islands, and keep Thompson up and rotate him in where we see fit. |

I could see the Sabres trading for ahl depth.
Unloading a few contracts and adding to the Americans playoff run.
That said- iafallo would be someone that i would like to see in the blue and gold |

The only trades I see at the deadline are Beaulieau and maybe Pommer or Girgs and the LA trade at the draft to shape the roster for next season. With the Kings trade, we might not have to dip into free agency either. |

One thing to consider when dealing picks, it is better from an OfferSheet perspective to keep your own 1st, 2nd & 3rd rounders.
Of course, OS are hardly used, but maybe that starts to change?
Just a thought. |

If Duchene makes it to FA he should be our main target IMO. Similar to how Tavares went to the Leafs, Duchene could have that impact in Buffalo. Duchene’s career point totals aren’t too far off of Tavares’ either and they came from the same draft. Eichel, Duchene, Mitts, Erod down the middle makes us relevant again. |

Are you ok paying the combination of Duchene and Skinner between $16M-$18M long term? |
