Oh god Jan, Libor-Pionk may be one of the worst Rangers defensive pairs in recent memory. Was Poti ever played with Ulanov? Only one that I could think that could rival that. |

rumor is they might be switching the cap to net income to help with places that have no state tax |

Again, trying to solve an issue that isn't there. If it was such a competitive advantage, why have the Kings who play in one of the highest tax areas, been able to win 2 cups? The Kings have as many cups this decade as of all the no state tax teams COMBINED. |

Gorton missed out in moving Freddy C, Smith, and/or Shatty at the deadline. Now there's still a logjam at D still and nowhere to move anyone to get other players in the lineup. Same problem up front. Instead of moving one or two others, we bring in another forward. I see Smith and Brickley out once Howden and Chytil return; though, those two have played pretty well for 4th line duty.
Are we really taking players out that have played well for two others that haven't done squat for a few months? |

It seems to be a relatively new thing, players choosing to play in one place vs. another due to lack of state income tax. Stamkos was, seemingly, really the first UFA to use this as a major consideration. |

It is a huge advantage when it comes to FA. Players want higher salary compared to the teams with no state tax.
LA drafted well and won before players came off their ELC just like Chi. Now look at those teams. |

would Stamkos have taken only 8.5 mil a year if he played in Los Angeles?
I think that debatable

This only affects their cost of living...not their paycheck. Games paid which were done outside of Florida should end up being taxed. |

This is a real thing my friend discussed with some of the current players. They brought this up in NHLPA meetings. So players def think about this recently |

Show me the list of UFA who randomly came to no state tax teams. The one I can think of, Brad Richards, went from a no state tax team (Tampa) to another (Dallas) |

it's definitely a real thing, the baseball signings were talking about it, Machado lost out on 43 million or something because he signed in San Diego as opposed to somewhere else |

All I am saying it is a recent discussion among players entering FA. They take it into consideration more so now then they did in the past |

Stralman took 4.5 mil there when other teams were offering more |

If they were the team that drafted him and was a good team he might have. I have yet to see one piece of evidence the no state tax is the one factor that made him resign. More likely, he was a critical part of a team that drafted him and the team was really good. Maybe Tampa gets the benefit of the no tax status being am already good team. You sure don't see people signing in Dallas and Sunrise because of it. |

They traded for him. I think maybe it is a factor in resigning. No one can provide me where a premium UFA left a team to go there. |

Tampa didn't trade for Stralman, he left the Rangers to sign there, we've complained about not signing him 9 million 976 thousand 425 times around here |

He scored 18 goals the year before he went to Dallas. I'll give you he signed a big contract, but I'm not sure he was a premium UFA. |

Nobody is trying to prove that point. All we are saying it is brought up in discussion and players do think about it. |
