Rangers 95 million cap, everybody else 60 - jimbro83
The cap should just be way higher in general. Chicago would still be winning |

They we’re talking for months about Bob and Panarin going to the Panthers as a pair because of no taxes. It’s like a thing to do that now - Slimtj100
We have, if they both sign there I will come on here and say I was wrong. From everything I've heard though Panarin 1st option is us by a mile. I honestly think Bob will sign there, they need a goalie, will throw the money at him, and I'm not sure Bob likes a lot of media scrutiny. |

Sometimes a solution to one problem creates 2-3 more. So lets say state income tax gives them a lower cap. Would the New York/California teams then exploit a loophole for their higher cap? There will always be advantages/disadvantages to every market. It's impossible to makes rules for them. I mean, Toronto has an advantage over Columbus due to market/fanbase, should Columbus get concessions? - 2sticks1puck
That's one solution. I'm sure there are others that could help mitigate the solution. What they are, I'm not sure. But it's naive to say it's not a reality. Despite the elite UFAs, there are other players that have to play on the team. Those players that aren't making the big bucks definitely think about it, or at least their agents do.

oh yeah, congrats on that
I was suprised he didn't take the 45 million a year that the Dodgers offered him to offset California's ridiculous taxes |

Of course it's a thing. That is why the Lightning can sign both Stamkos and Kcuherov to extensions under 10 million AAV, because they get to keep a larger % of the money. Compared to a guy like Matthews who has to have his money in mostly signing bonus because he's base salary is taxed at 53.5%. |

Yep...honestly it was all about the family. When Phillies owner flew out with his wife last weekend and spent 2 days with Harper and his wife, that sealed the deal. He wanted to be at one place where he felt part of a family for the rest of his career.
Yea the highest contract of all time helps to
But 13 years keeps the AAV to 25 million so the phillies can still spend...I love it |

I will say that the NHL can't control State and Federal tax law. So it's not their fault. But those are the Rules. |

Kreider has a number in his head he will not go below bc of cost of living here. We will end up paying more to keep him bc of that - nyrangers2
Just go the AM route and have most of his extension as signing bonus. Tax problem (partially) resolved. |

It's a good question: are players going to want that AAV for a shorter time, or an ironclad guarantee like Harper got. Harper just did an interesting set of the market. Reports had he turned down 40 mil a year from the Dodgers because he wanted the term. |

Fatso was saying more or less that’s why they didn’t get Machado or Harper. It’s probably true. Didi is getting 20 mill next sounds like. Then Gleyber, Sanchez, etc.
Honestly they really don’t need anyone anyway it was so stupid to even want them, they’re both overrated. Yankees fans are sperled rotten |

I think they end up trading Sanchez. He's a pain in the ass. He can be so good and then he just sucks at times. Plus they drafted a switch hitting catcher in the 1st round recently. |
