There is a big gap between this team and the Knights. While the Canucks can't compete, I didnt like how they hung Markstrom out like that. Would like to see the coach dial up the compete on his players. With all the injuries its going to be tough, but let's at least see a team who competes hard, hard on the forecheck, hard on pucks, hard along the boards, gets the net etc.

ya 19 shots is pretty brutal. No more party night, Green should be pissed. |

As long as you add better players around him, yes. I think replacing Pou with QH, for example, automatically makes the d overall better. Similarly replacing Hutton wiht Trouba makes our top4 much, much better. And yeah having a top 4 of Edler, Tanev, Trouba and QH, moving Hutton and Stech to bottom pair makes us a WAY better d corp witsh some actual depth to work with and we only had to acquire one player. I won't be on here making a fuss regardless of what happens with Edler, I'm just saying. Tanev I don't think is going anywhere until next TDL, but I suspect they give him a new deal if I'm being honest. - neem55
d is bad but the forwards cant receive a pass and cant move it out at the blueline. |

Until more drafts pass & prospects hone their games nothing much matters on where we end up in the standings.
When we actually have a roster of deeper talented skilled players we bide our time. More focus is about cap management & player development. Opportunity to sign legit top UFA’s is more likely needed soon & any trade that can help is always important.
I don’t see us being good & more consistent until the 2020-21 season at earliest. |

I understand what you are saying but I think sometimes a team has to take a chance. I don't think signing Karlsson is a reality but if you could what would be better
Taney Edler
Hughes Trouba
or
Hughes Karlsson
OJ Trouba
The idea is to look at different options instead of bringing back the same D plus Hughes.

If they have a shot at EK, I completely agree. I just don't see it, but if it's there I'm 100% for this change. I see getting one or the other as a distant possibilty, while signing Edler a much more likely reality. If you get one of Trouba or EK and re sign Edler for a couple years that's huge win IMO.
Trouba has to sign the offer sheet and I don't think he does it with us as apposed to NY or cali team ect. but he's my favorite offer sheet dream atm |

Caught a rockets game last night. Most noticeable player on the ice, by far, was Foote. Hope he is around at beginning of the second round. |

JB will be on the hot seat next season.
It’s inevitable & even more pressing the fans see better results & less growing pains.
Toying with PO run notion when the west is so weak this season shouldn’t change longterm goals. For that matter even Green will feel more heat & his associates could be gone 1st. |

What's really funny is 7 of the 16 shots were in the corner right on the goal line. - classic321

I don't think Karlsson is a reality either. The point was try different things . Unless you are happy with Tanev and Edler leading the way for the next three years then you have to look at every possibility.
I would even rather Hutton Hughes and Sautner rather than locking in to another three years of a 6 mil Edler with a NMC firing pucks into shin pads.

Last blog i mentioned trying to sign Panarin which isn’t out of the realm of a possibility. He alone would help us but still not fix our biggest issue on D being unable to score let alone lead break outs. A D shake-up is needed sooner than later. |

take out our worst forward, and add in Panarin, and we are still lacking. Not saying we couldn't use him, I absolutely agree we could, but this team needs so much all over. |

I was listening to the coach or GM of the Vancouver Giants about three weeks ago. He said Bryam is ready to step in and play top 4 in the NHL right now.

Firstly, in an attempt to quote you, I flagged your post by accident. Sorry.
Secondly, Benning should be on the hot seat, and summarily canned if he comes back with anything remotely resembling this year's roster. The guy is a great talent scout. He's a barely passable GM. Time to move on from Brylcreem Benning. |
