Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks hope to ride re-worked power play to a win in Vegas The Vancouver Canucks made time to work on their sputtering power play during a two-day stopover in Las Vegas before their Sunday matinee against the Golden Knights.

Vintage - I'm hoping the VGN fill the net on Markstrom to bring your save percentage and GAA down for the pool, kicking your ass

Only way to re-work this power play is to fire the coaching staff.

Thanks Carol

I like the switching up of lines . Let's face it the next 17 games is an audition for next year. Hopefully we won't be fooled by another Leipsic.

Never did like Soccer . Eleven men running around in shorts and ripping off their shirts showing off their sweaty chests in a field , falling all over the place writhing in pain and embellishment sounds more like a Nucker fantasy picnic than a sport .

You can fire eighty coaches, fact is, you need more skill if you want a better PP.

Full credit to the Whitecaps and Minnesota United for keeping the writing in pain to a bare minimum on Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised and even commented on it during the game. No shirt-ripping, either.

New coach and almost an entirely new roster for the Whitecaps this year. It'll be awhile before we get a real sense of what this team's about.

Ridding the coaching staff of Newell Brown's incompetence as well as Baumgartner, would be a great start.

This off-season should be Benning's last if he doesn't make some significant wins at the draft and free agency. He's had more than enough time to work with, and this team should be in a better place now. Christ, this team should have been torn down after the first round sweep by the Sharks. Why the weren't is both a mystery and an abject travesty.

Green should only be given until next season to make some gains too. Sitting Schenn in favor of Biega against a big team like the Knights is stupid.

Sure, but special team success can be greatly influenced by the quality of the coaching staff.

Thank you for the update. As you know I was half joking. I tried to watch Soccer but could not stand the diving and the officiating. Just not my Cup of Tea.

When you get the chance I would like to hear your opinions of this upcoming summer. Do you see them making a big signing(s) or trades?

Do you see guys like Tanev and Sutter being moved ? Thoughts?

Yes agree, the Sedins had so much patience and experience with the puck they were excellent on the PP, until they changed it up, then they went stale.

Last year the PP was good because of the Sedins and better puck movement, this year, there's not enough skill. You can't coach skill, you can improve on it, but Pettersson is essentially the only guy with enough puck skills to even mention.

I listened to Shane O Brien the other day he did not have high praises for Duchene. He kept repeating he is a good person but every time had a follow up but

He thinks he is immature and selfish.

That wouldn't help the tank....

Plus, it's our greatest coaching staff of all time, why would we want to mess with that?

Not that we would ever have a realistic chance of landing him, but that's certainly not a good thing.

The power play is basically a stationary unit, the system needs too be more of a motion type.
Even the slowest pk ers can figure this poop out.
Never liked this boring and stale type of power play, even when it was effective, a decade ago.

I think we can all admit that the PP is all about positioning your shooters for that one timer. I think we have a collection of great shooters on this roster. There’s 5-6 guys on this team who can really blast it.

My problem with the Canucks PP is that they have so much trouble getting set up in the o-zone. So little control. It’s really frustrating to watch.

Nobody on the point has a good enough shot. No one causes a disturbance in front of the net. You know the shot is going to come from Petey or Brock who are standing still. it is not Brain Science

Maybe Newell would like to assist Tortorella in Columbus to be close to his nephew? The guy is a relic here. Just wasting space.

And Eriksson is just an anchor of a player, truly the summation of Benning's boneheaded moves. Jim's a great scout and drafter of talent, but I don't think he should be given access to the Aquilini's debit card on July 1st.
