No Gaunce sucks too. Soft on the hitting , can't score, will watch his line mates get nailed. Keep him down on Utica. - VANTEL

Beagle had 18 points in his first 130 NHL games, 27 in his first 192.
I think the point being made is it's another pointless signing. |

I'll take Beagle's 124 pts in 513 NHL games plus the cup ring anyday over what we've seen from Gaunce so far. By a mile. |

Yeah sure, because Beagle was given an opportunity.
Gaunce is 24, Beagle still suited up for 34 games in the AHL at age 25.
I'd say Gaunce has a better shot of winning a cup with the Canucks than Beagle does, however remote that possibility is.
Beagle is 34 to start next season, and we don't look like cup contenders anytime soon. |

Small sample size so far as Beagle has been injured almost half the year and has only played 42 games as a Canuck.
Big picture? Has more impact on a playoff contending Canuck team next season.

If the Canucks are contending for the playoffs, it won't be on the strength of Beagle's game.
Remove the name Gaunce from the equation, we're talking about a 4th line C. |

My post wasn't really a ringing endorsement of Gaunce, it's more about how Beagle is overrated. Him being better in scrums isn't worth 2M more lol.
We've already seen it with Schenn replacing EG, you can find toughness cheap these days. |

Not disagreeing but if you are going to rebuild a fourth line bring in players like Brandon Tanev or Andrew Shaw. That is why Roussel is a fan favorite because he attacks. |

are we ignoring this great man's role in obstruction of justice in a double homicide? - DeflatedPucks
Worse would be the fact that his suit apparently went missing. But the guy figured out how to play hard and drag his team into the fight. I would sure love to see a bit of fight out of the canucks every once in a while

I feel a 6 game winning streak coming................oh wait that's heart burn.
I just feel that when I'm in Oz this team will win 4 or 5 of it's last games and screw up the tank like last year. |

He attacks + contributes offensively
I’d easily take another Roussel instead of Beagle |

That was like Bruce vs Goliath, David was busy I guess. Marky was great though. |

Why does it have to be one or the other? Goner plays LW in the NHL. Imagine Beagle, Gaunce and Motte on the 4th line.
Also, if guys like you had your way Beagle would never have made it to 500 games, because early in his career he sucked... |

I like Rous, pain in the ass, and a complete player. Only downside is his rep gets him penalties he doesn’t deserve, like today’s roughing call. |

miller wasn't a bad signing
guddy wasn't a free agent. i know he got the contract, but it was at least dealable.
in that vein however - sutter could have been a good example, though his signing has generally tended towards the middle of the spectrum for most of the duration (its trending back towards poor now)
gagner however was never not bad, even though i get the logic
beagle is looking a bit anchory - BobBot
Nobody saw that coming... |
