Some were talking about Mitts being a Calder candidate. - PrinceChill
Just about everyone was
If we had a legit 2C this year,
We’d have been ok
Mitts killed us offensively though this year
I don’t think anyone expected it to be this bad
At least i don’t remember anyone saying so
I was the “most negative” to memory
And all i said was,
“He MIGHT NOT be a stud RIGHT AWAY” |

Marner is a franchise difference maker I’ll take Marner everyday - gerbe75pts
I think we all would
Doubt the Leafs would let him go
What would it take?
12mil per?
*Can we pay someone more than Jack and not have it affect the room? |

Maybe his near point per game nine game audition caused him to think the NHL was easy. |

I think he’s just a kid still
Was playing HS hockey 2 years ago
There’s a pretty big leap between NCAA and NHL
Not too many 19year olds jump in and are successful right away
He reminds me quite a bit of Sam when he had his 9game tryout
Needs to get tougher, and just wasn’t ready
Did we do a “paper transaction” with Mitts like we did with Tage?
Both of them should be sent down to Rochester ASAP
Should’ve been done a while ago really
But now that we are pretty much out of playoff contention... there’s no excuse |

that was just dumb, they were asking / hoping he would get more points than jack he first couple seasons... there was no way that was happening. I expected more from mitts but not a lot... he's going to need a couple more seasons before we see what we are going to get from him.

Ppl saw what Barzal did & got excited
It wasn’t unreasonable to HOPE he could be great right away
But counting on him to be great right away,
that was the mistake

skinner wants north of 9 per
botts 8 per
my gut says botts will cave and it will be a 9 mil per year deal - homiedclown
I read (red) somewhere the other day that they were held up on term. Can't remember where but it was someone like Lebrun or Friedman. Take it fwiw. |

I’m really not crapping on Mitts, just the unreasonaly optimistic predictions of him. Casey will gain weight and strength and hopefully the experience of this season will be a good investment.
It took Rino a while to fully get it together. But it is concerning how much further back from Rino that Casey is starting from. |

No on both.
They are both going to be overpayed substantially.
They are going to be Lucic level bad contracts. |

12 years of rebuild and counting
renew your season tickets
I am sure the black widow and her husband are going to raise the prices again - homiedclown
I doubt they raise season tickets this year
The pegula's didnt raise Sabres tickets last year
Bill's tickets just went up from $920 to $936 . $2 a game
I know your just frustrated like the rest of us, but we seriously have the best Center/defenseman in franchise history. Both young and entertaining.
Good times ahead |

wow, not even close to saying that yet... Gilbert is still the best center to ever play for the sabres. he was just as if not more dominate than jack. Dahlin still has a lot to prove as well before making any statement like that. |

I was at the aud when gil scored his 500th goal.
Great memory
I agree, gil and phil played a few seasons together.
I guess I'm hopeful. But you're right , to early to claim that |

Which is about a year too late
That (frank)ing 10-game win streak saved him another year of spastic jawing on the water-insoluble masticatory delivery system used to carry sweeteners, flavors, and any other substances in his chewing gum, most likely estrogen to block his logic-mechanism. - BeadyEyedDouche

Mario Lemieux only went to the playoffs once in his first six seasons.

I actually think Mike Ramsey was the best defensemen to ever play for the sabres... but yeah... I get your point...
I would say that we might have the best center and defenseman at the same time on the sabres... |

Of course
But can’t u just say that EVERY year?
With that line of thinking,
Every team in the league except for like 5 or 6 should be trying to tank every year
Let’s say we get Turcotte this year
Won’t we be better off in the long run if we tank again next year to try for Lefreniere?
What about the year after that?
And the year after that?
When do u arbitrarily decide that it’s time to try & win? - jdfitz77
When we can go into a season and confidently say we have a legit chance of winning a couple playoff series.

Thanks sir
It’s making me nervous that this deal isn’t done yet
I don’t want Botts to wait to long & have Skinner decide to test the open market - jdfitz77
Skinner would be absolutely dumb not to test the open market. He will most likely end up with 40-45 goals and 70+ points in a contract year. I just know that some dumb ars GM will offer him 9 large... I just don't think it would be wise for us to spend that much money and I love Skinner...
He can test the open market and still have Buffalo's offer as a safety net, that is what I would do if I was in the same position. |

Botts is smart, hopefully he can get him at under $8.5M. If not, bye Felicia. If that’s the case then not trading him at the deadline would have been a huge mistake. |

So, tank next year too. I don’t see any series of moves where we could confidently say we have a legit shot of at least making the conference finals. |
