What about Strome? - BetweenTheDots
What about him? if we are talking about effort, Strome has given effort on every shift.
Perlini didn't. |

What's up, Philly cheesesteak???
Great effort, great win by a team I didn't recognize! - I Am The Breadman
Hawks up 2 more points in the standings Broheem lol.
They BATTLED. Should have won handily with all the chances they generated, but
onward and upward !
|
|

Perlini with a very good chance to become a fixture on that line.
Sikura will be more than serviceable. - TrueGrit
I agree. Perlini and Sikura have both played pretty well lately. Some have just make up (closed) their mind on Sikura. I still don't know if he's an NHL player but he's shown enough where comments about bus rides to Rockford are nonsense.

Hawks allowed less than 2 goals for the first time since December 21. Wow |

My theory is they were coaching against Stromes hockey iq, where Perlini has none. The game happens in milliseconds. I know you've declared him a bust. I've watched this defense a step behind especially with Q because they were constantly thinking instead of playing a game at NHL speed, it's good to see him have a few good games after sitting and soaking it in. |

We are talking about two different thing. Unless you consider effort to be part of hockey IQ.
I did say he was a bust. I also praised him for making some EFFORT plays tonight. A couple of good games is a start. Let's see if he keeps it up. His previous efforts were lacking.

Perlini has definitely been more noticeable, goals or no goals. His skating looks better, and he looks so much more engaged on every shift. Whether the light went on in his head, or whether there was an injury that healed, no idea. |

Even more impressive... the Hawks didn’t allow any power play goals against. |

I think it's a confidence thing with him. He's gonna be hard to keep motivated when he isn't scoring. Loads of talent though |

I believe when a player has to think about what they are doing they will always be a step behind, but i guess that's just my opinion, so really i think they are connected. |

Also, the 4th line had all their switches to whoop ass mode. |

Being a step behind is different to me than a lack of effort. Which, to me, I was seeing from Perlini. He made two very nce defensive plays tonight that were nothing more than moving his feet instead of gliding after the guy. In fact, he almost started on one play and then got his feet moving again to break up the play. |

the best PK is to not commit a penalty, Hawks did that tonight. Amazing. |

This team has not been the picture of consistency ,if their ever was a time it would be now . Two tough games ,but doable |

There was a great profile on him in The Athletic recently. He talked about having an epiphany watching a movie about a rock climber(?), realizing that while if that guy makes a mistake, he's dead, but in hockey, mistakes are not fatal. He said he's been playing looser since. Anisimov also supposedly helps him keep loose and enjoy the game, which seems to be important to his performance.

The movie you referenced is “Free Solo”. It was on the National Geographic channel last Sunday: might be available on demand. A somewhat fascinating documentary about his solo up a mountain.

Big game on Wednesday too. The last time the Leafs and Hawks met it got interesting. Plus, I was teasing some Leafs fans at work about losing to the Canucks this week. Hopefully the Hawks can pull out the W. |
