Size , speed , shot . Needs to get some accuracy and chemistry with the linemates if possible . Might need a few in the AHL if thats possible . He works hard out there, just needs the reason too and the points for it . - cabin

this game was over the second Jack got suspended. I see two maybe three more wins this month... that's it - gordong
I looked at the schedule and figured a 5 game lose streak even with Jack |

Can we go 3 games in a row without scoring a point. It's looking promising. |

I don’t know anything about TT’s mental makeup. Is he a guy who’s look at a stint in Rochester as an opportunity?
Or would he see it as a slap in the face, and just go down there and loaf. Then wait to be gifted another year with the big club next season? |

Yet we define playmakers by their lack of goals. Jack was crucified on this site when he was averaging over a PPG with a lack of goal scoring even though he set up Skinner for all of his goals.
Im not saying you are wrong Fitz. There are no bad players in the NHL but there are players that are overpaid. It would be nice if Bogo made $2M instead of $5M. It would be nice if Skinner was making $7.5M instead of possibly $9M+. I don't want to lose Skinner but I don't want to overpay him and have that contract be a pain in the arse a few years from now when we actually have the more scoring you are referring to in your post. - Pegullaville
But Jack is better than JUST a “playmaker”
He has a great shot, and was shooting a ton
So yeah, NATURALLY ppl wanted to see him score more
No one thinks Jack is a 20goal 80assist guy
Those who wanna see him score more,
say so bc he has that ability to do so
Jack should score 35ish goals with 50+ assists
And we ALL would also like Skinner at 8mil (or less)
But that might not be realistic with the way salaries are skyrocketing
And just don’t wanna lose him over 1.0mil
No, we can’t be overpaying 3rd pair defensemen like Bogo
But there are times when u do have to overpay your best players
For most of us,
Skinner is one of those guys we just can’t afford to lose |

I have to say, the bills are doing a fine job this offseason |
|

Is there anyone in Rochester who could’ve improved upon Thompson’s 7-5-12 in 59 games this season?
If so, why weren’t they given a shot?
If not, that’s pretty bleak. |

I don’t see any of that
He’s big, but doesn’t USE his size
He skates ok, FOR HIS SIZE
I don’t think he’s overly fast
And i know he’s supposed to have this great shot
But he misses the damn net so much,
and his release takes forever at times
That might prevent him from ever being a scorer in the NHL where u don’t have as much time & space
I agree he’s shown flashes
But I’ve seen a lot more questions than i do answers with him overall
Hopefully I’m wrong though
It’s definitely baffling that Botts keeps him up here |

If Skinner does get his big pay day I just hope you are right and he continues to score 35-40 from ages 27-33 or else you can add him to the list of overpaid players the Sabres have signed over the past few years. I’m not saying he’ll decline as much as Okposo or Moulson, but once the goal scoring well dries up, he won’t provide the value we’ll be paying him. The cup contenders this year are maximizing every dollar of cap space they have. That is the trend with every cup winner or cup contender over the past several seasons. I like Skinner, just not at $9M+ when he’s 30 years old for the same reason I was happy we moved on from ROR and that contract. We are 2-3 years away from “contender” status at best. |

WE traded Kane . replaced his point with ... Skinner ?
Yes/ would have been nice to add to instead of replace
- cabin
Regardless of whether or not we HAD to trade Kane & ROR...
Just “replacing” them and NOT ADDING is
100% EXACTLY what i warned about with our offense this year
And it’s a pretty huge reason why we are where we are |

Well if he is the type of guy to loaf,
then we might as well find out
Bc he’s not the type of guy we want around
I do think he’ll be good in Rochester though
Get him down there
Let these guys go on a legit playoffs run
And then we’ll see how he comes back next year |

Only excuse I have for this is this was another stealth tank. They added Skinner at the end of the offseason to give the players hope that the team was trying to win this year and gave the fan base and media another thing to chew on. Only to know we weren’t ready just yet and the chips were going to fall where they may. |
