stripes- what's your thoughts on the eichel hit/ suspension?
Thank you in advance - Boss34
The league is widely inconsistent in their suspensions we know this.
However Eichel has tip toed that line a few times.
I agree with what Eichel said after the suspension came out.
However IF the NHL really wants to limit though head hits and after McDavid got a similar suspension I figured he was going to get 2 games.
I am good with the 2 games. |

No offense but these type of comments and others like "get the game under control" are so off base it's comical.
Officials are not there to stop penalties from happening. They are only there to put their arms in the air to call the penalty (which in the Zadarov hit he was getting one)
Not sure what you wanted a ref to do here |

I don't blame Casey Nelson, but the next time Zad's was out there with anyone else that could handle themselves it should have been addressed.
that is your Captain and best all around player on the team, other teams simply CAN NOT run him without having it addressed...

Being reprimanded for not standing up for your teammates is kinda interesting. I'd be willing to bet Dahlin wouldn't get benched though. |

it's not really being reprimanded within the team, its more the lack of brotherhood on the team. If these guys wee really tight, that hit would have been addressed by someone. |

Hitting a player after a whistle AND pulling his helmet off easily could have warranted at least 2 infractions. Hell, i've seen players kicked out of games for less. Dont get so upset because I'm talking about "your people." Refs are wildly inconsistant and we all know they are there to control the flow of the game, not enforce the rules |

No, no you haven't
Also his helmet coming off was a result of the hit and not him "pulling his helmet off"
Take off your homer glasses here
That was the first penalty of the game
There was nothing close to resembling a hit like that was coming, there was no flow that needed to be controlled

I don't care about retribution, or perception, or any of the ego stuff. The response from the team was fine. But Casey Nelson isn't that good, so sure, scratch him.
Meanwhile, Housley is working on his lines:

I dunno. Plastering a guy's head to the boards after the whistle deserves more than 2 minutes. Zads did swipe the helmet off after contact but what really gets me aside from the wild inconsistency of suspensions is the "head was the point of impact" leading to suspensions.
Even though Zads' first contact was not Jack's head, it was still a dirty hit and Jacks head hit the glass.
On Jack's suspension, he was skating to the puck and collided with a guy literally skating headfirst into him. Jack did not lead with elbow or even shoulder, did not leave his feet...didnt even veer towards the guy. But the head was the contact point so he sits for 2. |

I’d be willing to bet Dahlin would do something
He has a physical side to him and doesn’t shy away from it |

Principle point of contact is huge here
Jack got hit in the chest and fell which lead to his helmet coming off
In college the rule would is (indirect contact to the head roughing)
The NHL doesn't have that specific rule but it falls under roughing.
If the whistle didn't go that's probably not even a penalty on Zadorov
On the Eichel suspension the principle point of contact was the head.
Eichel's hit was very similar to McDavid's suspension |

he didn't lower his body and the colorado player had his head down
if his head was upright, there is no grey area |

If only Ristolainen was on the ice for that Zadorov shift, he would’ve iced the puck at some point and the hit never would’ve happened |

1:22 mark
Eichel makes a last second movement to the right to hit him
If he goes straight for the puck he doesn't get suspended |
