Im just glad we have larrson on our blueline. 20 plus minutes a night strong and tough on the opposition and rarely misses 20 plus games like some wingers in the nhl with mysterious injuries. |

It'll be fun spending three months speculating on what player we're going to be drafting... like it is nearly every other year.
It's too bad they don't just lottery right after the season is over like they used to back when TSN had NHL rights... sportsnet had to ruin it by trying to give one of their games a few extra ratings.
I'm not really worried if NJ ends up in a top 4 slot this year, but if, by chance, they end up tumbling a spot or two, I'm really worried. I think there's some fool's gold in the top 10 this year. |

Anyone else noticed how many times a defenseman just threw the puck up the middle from the goal line last night? The Defensemen were just giving pucks away in the defensive zone. The sad part is that Damon Severson constantly does this blindly. Are they not taught at a young age never to throw the puck up in the middle unless you're 100% sure? When I play D, I'll throw pucks back in the corner if I don't have anything. Better to fight for the puck in the corner then to turn it over in front of the goalie.
I also think the D does a little too much when trying to move the puck out of their zone. I don't know if the forwards are not giving the D any open looks for an outlet pass or the D is trying to do too much and prove they're "elite" puck moving defensemen.
As for McLeod, I think he's a redundant piece on this team. He and Zacha are pretty close to the same style of play, pass first shoot later and not overly physical. Along with Zajac we have three 3rd line centers who could possibly be 2nd line centers.
I'd like to see Shero trade one of Zacha, McLeod, or Wood for a defenseman. Maybe Edmonton will be dumb enough to trade Evan Bouchard for one of the 3 forwards above (so they can skate with McDavid) and Santini (I would even add Butcher instead of Santini). Another option is a 1 for 1 trade of the forwards mentioned above for Caleb Jones. |

Only way we're getting Bouchard is if we trade them our first rounder this year (at 4th if lottery cooperates) and take Lucic with it.

I'll tell you what; the best deals I'll offer for each of those slum pickings is Bear for Zacha, Russell for Zajac and Ryan McLeod for Michael McLeod (because trading brothers sounds fun). |

Good write up Todd. Didn’t realize Corey’s save percent has been so high lately. Hope he continues that as it would be good to see him find his game again on a consistent basis. (Looking to next year)
