strongly disagree.
i don't like nylander much (newsflash).
but not because he isn't a decent hockey player, but he is obsolete on this leafs team - at least in the cap area, leafs should better be spending that money on another player + need wingers with different skillsets.
but nylander would get a great/good return in any trade, independent of his subpar play and bad attitude. - plantheparade
I thought it was Marleau we are talking about and your Bill Ny the paid guy.
Nylander could fetch the Leafs something decent. What I do not know. |

Still on that, eh?
Sparks deserved a chance, we drafted and developed him. Is also 10 years younger than McElhinney and was the AHL goalie of the year last year. |

keep lying to yourself.
it was a bad decision to let mcbackup go.
if Dubas was so high on Sparks, he should have let Holl or Marincin go and keep 3 goalies for first months. |

Who cares about the backup, won't see 1 game in the PO's.
Keep the younger guy who just won the Calder Cup or keep the journeyman who had a career year playing for a good team....it was a no brainer.

Wait, what? A decision was made and they went with it, which was the proper decision at that time.
Saying it was a bad decision is 20/20 hindsight. |

i'm saying keep both of them - leafs had enough 'depth' (Borgman etc.) on D to let Marincin or Holl .
McElhinney wasn't only great for Leafs last year, he was really good year before as well. |

He was also old, which was a glaring issue. Do you play the old dude or the AHL goalie of the year? |

How many of those people were in the Leafs boardroom?
Some people just don't like change. I was for giving Sparks the chance, he earned it.

the only reason why his number are nice because he's been a #1 role for the Canes. Doubt his numbers would be the same as the Leafs backup.
Even at times I wondered why they kept Sparks but that's why I'm a fan and not a GM.
Sparks is younger and deserve a shot in the NHL. |

we havent seen it fully play out yet, so I cant say it didnt work out
15 games into a backup career is not nearly enough to say anything.
And yes I know there are many goalie experts on here that will tell me they know...because reasons.. but I dont beleive them when they say they know...because in the history of the NHL there are hundreds of examples of people not knowing
ill wait to be told how someone here knows |

Meh, only 1 can play. No need to for McBackup he'll be retired before you're old enough to drive. |

They won't be ready to play top pair next year IMO
But as much as I defend Hainsey because he does some things well, I'd rather see a younger vet with a little more speed brought in. - Garnie
He's more of the 3rd pairing and pk dman if the Leaf do bring him back.
Not sure who'd they have to play with Rielly |

Its wasnt.
The gm prior should have better planned so that dubas wasnt required to waive 2 of them. |

Rielly Nylander
Then we won't hurt any ones feeling by trading him for a D |

Three goalies is never a good idea.
In fact, it's a franking terrible idea. |
