Ya thats certainly the best or closest example. Giggy with the stay-puffed gear on. I don't think it's all on him either. - aminnes
It's on the NHl for not cracking down on it. That era's boring hockey is on Bettman. He allowed so much go and it decreased scoring and made for such a dull game.
One look at some of those goalie's equipment and I would have ordered change.
Any other league would have freaked-out seeing scoring drop that much. |

03 Ducks were pretty young and he ... and well
JS Giguire got them to game 7 of finals... - dozerD10
The Leafs season before last were very young and went from last to the playoffs and were not out of place against the top seed. Next year the most points in franchise history. It's like people expect the team to win the Cup as soon as they drafted Matthews. They've been doing great under Babcock. |

True. For me it's more about getting through in the playoffs, and between management and coaching, I don't see that happening. |

Play your best players more. Realize Marleau is no better than a 4th liner at this stage. Stop using Hainsey so much. Time to use Nylander much more. and stop giving interviews and explaining how much you love Hyman. |

Usually with up and coming teams it's not happening until just before it does. We'll see. |

It's the cap. Hard to quantify this team improving next year if anything they will have to let players go and fill some spots with plugs, with Dubas and his idea of overloading the forward cap % while leaving the d and depth goalie positions vulnerable. Obviously he will make moves in the summer, but this was the one really big chance to go for it and the team is basically 500 over their last 32. It's one of my peeves about Matthews. He slowly regresses as the season goes on in production. As things get tighter and more physical he is less and less impactful. Nylander is the same. Thats a lot of cap space for that type of guy. Meanwhile teams like Boston start slow, and get better and better as things get tougher and tougher and into the playoffs. I really hope they push though but all signs are pointing to the negative. |

Leafs are going nowhere, the playoffs are just around the corner and Leaf management did almost nothing to try and improve on defence and in goal. It looks like the golf clubs will be out after Boston takes them out in 6 games or less. |

Yeah they didn’t make the biggest D upgrade at the TDL.
Muzzin doesn’t count because you don’t want him to...I get it. Run along. |

Didn't do nothing but certainly didn't do enough, and the prices were actually pretty cheap this year too. |

It's games like last night that terrify the rest of the league and esp the B's ... play great for 55 minutes while Leafs blow and then Boom hang on for dear life. And that'w/o Kap and Gards.
If Babs can get AM away from Bergeron .. I like the Leafs chances. Esp if they're just be ok in the D zone and not completely lost. |

Babcock has to see progress this year and he will be lucky losing to Tampa in the second round as he can say "it was tampa" and get a pass for another season. But 5th year of the rebuild will have bigger expectations. |

That's what I'm saying! How are other teams not afraid of the leafs every shift? Theres a legit superstar on every line. |

Babs put Marleau back on the top 2 lines in practice. Yeah that'll turn it around! - RogerRoeper
The Leafs are 6-3-1 the last ten games. What exactly is it that they need to turn around? |

Another depth d man would have been a good addition, and I think with the injury situation it would have been good. A bunch of teams picked up depth d, Rutherford likes to do that. |

Part of them maturing too, getting consistent. The season is a marathon also with ups and downs. Boston has been on fire, but things change. |

Chicago is a 500 team. Boston has been rolling for weeks. I'm not saying this isn't partly true, but I wouldn't get too excited. |
