I don’t think there’s a coach in the league that would play polak over gards - Puck-us-all
If he hadn't been injured, it sure would've been nice having Polak in and Gards out during game 7 last year. |

Babs probably wouldn't. But honestly, Gards kinda sucks. We've got other puck carriers that actually don't braincramp every other shift. - Thecakeisalie
Gards hate is so over the top, seems people can't even distinguish anymore. He's one of the team's best dman. Wanting him gone or wanting to scratch him for a dung heap like polak is asinine.
Gardiner sucks so much that he scores 40-50pts a year and gives up less goals against than most any others on the team.
It's so bizzare to see fans talk about healthy scratching a team's top dman in favour of a slug that couldn't crack the lineup. |

Gards only has 29 points in 60 games this year. Given his minutes, we have other guys that could easily duplicate this.
I know he's an analytical darling, but when you watch him play, he's terrifying for his own team's fans. He constantly has bad giveaways at inopportune times, maybe he can't handle high pressure situations, I don't know. |

Who could put up those numbers? None have been able to. His back had also been an issue for much of this year.
I watch all the games, and when polak was here he terrified me just as much, often more than gards. He couldn't get the puck out ever and took dumb penalties routinely. He made just as many mistake as gards (except his were coverage issues, not flamboyant giveaways) and his mistakes ended more often in the back of the net than gards... And he didn't score pts, |

Lol could be worse, could be a Bruins fans. 3 game losing streak, at the time of the year where the games get tougher. Going to get smoked in the playoffs! Not much character in that room, gotta figure. Should have tried to acquire Simmonds or someone like that at the deadline. |

Gards is getting pp time (5 points), about 4 minutes more per game, and has 29 pts to Dermott's 17. So yeah, Dermott could. Maybe a couple less points, but less defensive gaffs and he also hits.
Muzzin has only played 21 games, but has a higher ppg than Gards, so yeah, Muzzin can.
And if you'd paid attention to my original post on this, I said specifically in the playoffs, when we needed to inject more physical players, like maybe against certain teams. I also suggested putting him in over Zaitsev, another player on my poop list.
You just focused on Gards and ignored the rest.
Maybe my first post wasn't clear, when I said specifically that he might've been useful in the playoffs? That's when I was talking about, and only in games where Babs thought he'd be useful. |

Yes, on other teams that don't have any offensmen Gardiner may help, but on the Leafs who need good hard nosed defending d men, he is problem. He is horrible in his own end. |

They don't need grit. They have a good balance throughout their lineup. |

Clearly not. Win a few games in a row then mail it in, leadership is clearly lacking. Maybe Cassidy has lost the room and players are getting sick of him. Should be an interesting dynamic to watch, til their next win. |

Our defense looks terrible right now because we're playing both Marincin and Ozhiganov. Both have been pretty bad.

Gards is horrible in his own end but people want polak back who is even worse in his own end and doesn't do anything else at the othe end.
It's crazy to even have this discussion. Gards is miles ahead of polak. |

I never mentioned Polak, although someone with grit would be nice. But here's just one game of Gardiner. Many people wouldn't notice all the little mistakes, but breaking down just this one game shows how truly bad he is actually is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHy8r7s6F8s |

Great job, just keep ignoring all the details in my posts except what you want to see for your own arguments.
I think I clarified things in my post above if you actually want to bother reading. |

In "defense" of Gardiner, that must've been one of his worst games. Surely.
All you can do is laugh.
Someone needs to defend him, after all, he surely can't defend on his own! Zing! |

The biggest thing for me is how nonchalant he is. He just casually goes about his business no matter the situation. It's really odd. |

Omg 3 losses after getting points in 20 straight games or so.
Chill. |
