In the last 10 games played, for both teams, Carolina actually picked up 2 points on the Flyers. They have a 7 point lead plus they have a game in hand on the Flyers and your simulator thinks that the Flyers can make up 8 points on Carolina in their final 12 games? They have 0 chance of passing Carolina in the standings.

Now if we look at the last 10 games played for Columbus and Philly it was a bit better for Philly. They were able to pick up 3 points on Columbus during that stretch and if the continue at that pace 12 games won't be enough to make up the 6 points needed to pass Columbus.

Also, yesterdays projected standings had Philly out of the playoffs then they lose last night and now they're projected to be back in the playoffs??????

philly isnt getting 18 points in 12 games. not when they have Wahigton pittsburgh the Islanders and the leafs twice still to play, the problem with the simulator is that the guy who programmed it is a Flyer fan

eklund until you let someone unbiased program the simulator its worthless

and the penguins are not going to get 21 out of 22 possible points either not when they face Nashville twice and St Louis

you certainly can tell what state youre from
-billneftlberg

This is not a strong argument since Flyers have beaten Isles twice already and Leafs are struggling. They also recently beat Pittsburgh

it is a strong argument because philly is coming off a recent hot streak and they cant keep it up indefinitely, pjilly cannot play .850 hockey for what amounts to 40% of the season

What I’m really curious about is if when running this “simulator,” does he turn off offside?

No way the Flyers make up 5 points and pass 2 teams ahead of them.
- Emperor Filonius

It isnt That far fetched. All teams have tough schedules up ahead. Flyers can make up those points but Flyers need to rely on a few teams to lose a game or 2. Aside from WSH and DAL. Flyers have winnable games

MON(Struggling)
WSH
STL(Struggling)

CARx2

CHI

It definitely wont be easy but it is not a crazy possibility. MON will be easy to pass as long as they win that game VS them. The other teams will be harder and will have to look to other teams for some help. Personally I see CBJ as a more likely team to miss than CAR but those 2 games VS CAR are huge give that 2 Reg wins makes up 4 points

There's currently less than a 3% chance of them making the playoffs.

Even a 9-2-1 run to finish the season only gives them a 50/50 shot at the post season because of the remaining schedules for the other teams.

It’s not impossible, but simply winning isn’t enough if everyone else continues to win. Even the Penguins aren’t safe yet, but they are more in control of their own destiny at this point.

Philly has to win and rely on too heavily on other teams to lose.

Can't wait for the leafs to blow out Philly. It will reek so much havoc on Eks simulator it will cause it to crash. Unless of course Eks using NHL 19, than that's a whole different story. Let's hope it's the first one he uses as I want to see what is post will be tomorrow.

Boston's loss to Winnipeg last night dropped their projected finish from 115 points to 112

The simulator is ridiculous enough - now we're trying to prove/disprove the predictions and credibility?

.

Other than the Rangers and possibly Chicago, all of those teams you list have something to play for. Everything has to fall almost perfectly for the Flyers and other teams have to fall on their face.

If the Flyers go 10-2 (which is extraordinarily unlikely because it requires them to collect 83% of their remaining points, which is a 20% increase over their pace in their last 10) and collect 20 points to get to 96, Columbus would only have to go 7-4-1 to also get to 96 because they currently hold the tiebreaker. (Regulation wins). That's 62.5% for Columbus, which is essentially the pace they currently are at.

In short, the Flyers window isn't closed, but it is incredibly small.

How do you go 3-7? Even I was 8-2. I didn't have Florida over San Jose or Ottawa over St. Louis. But the rest were very predictable. Your "formula" sucks!

"A great race for the top of the Metro...Pittsburgh due to the factors in the remaining games is projecting out to 108 points, where the Caps are projecting out to 105 points... Both teams are playing nearly perfect hockey as their experience is kicking in BIG, but the Caps have three games left with Tampa."

If a Tree fell in the middle of the ice during an Islander's game would Ek know about it? so the race for the top of Metro is between the Pens and Caps... good to know.

I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything, I pointed out that Philly actually has lost ground on Carolina and, for as hot as Philly has been, only made up 3 points on Columbus over a 10 game stretch.

The entire blog was about the simulator and the projected standings champ so I commented on that.

Somehow, I do not see Philly getting a point out of ALL their remaining games. Nor do I see Carolina losing as many games as "the simulator" projects.

I agree! The flyers are playing like trash against GOOD teams....
