Looks like Hextall will be part of team Canada management. I wonder which Flyers he will invite?

Actually anyone drafted in the first round that year has had more of an NHL career so far than Morin. That’s not really saying much since his career is just 3games.

In fairness to Morin, he's missed the equivalent of the last season and three-quarters. Not sure how many NHL games he'd have right now if not for the core muscle issue last year and then the torn ACL, but it certainly would be north of 3.

Correct, and it was noted at the draft that he was more of a long term project. There was no idea that he was going to surge to the NHL quickly.

Just so it’s clear....officiating can blow on any given night. It not on purpose, it’s not like guys have it in for the Flyers....some times guys just have a bad night. It’s frustrating but in the end these guys are doing there best....and this is coming from a guy who’s been tosssed out of games, given more unsportsmanlike penalties then I can remember....it’s a fast game...mistakes happen.

Every major league sport has its issues....Hockey is no better or worse.

Jags was paseed over....Forsberg ? Passed over by teams....it’s not an exact science. Giroux was drafted in the 20’s....how many teams look at that draft and say WTF?

Can I offer the 3 of you who still thought this team was making the playoffs an egg in this trying time?

Poirier has had less, actually. I'd take him over Poirier, Klimchuk, and Shinkaruk, for sure.

The team in general looks gassed and some of the younger guys have hit the wall. Sanheim, Meyers, Lindblom, etc. I think they are all having expected growing pains. The D could really use a steady top 4 vet next year. It’s a bit much for Provy to carry the huge load of the franchise defenseman by himself. I hope Fletcher makes the right moves. It feels like a big summer coming up.

The Flyers looked totally gassed against the Caps and they got pushed around, too. Other sites have people calling for the Flyers to get a Tom Wilson type. The days of goons getting 4 minutes of ice time are long gone, but having a 4th liner with size that can actually play and stick up for his teammates may not be the worst thing? For years the Flyers had Simmonds to stand up for the team, but it was counter productive to have a guy that scores 25-30 goals a year sitting in the box for 5 minutes for fighting another team's 4th liner that gets minimal ice time, not to mention the chance for injuries.

Will Morin finally get some ice time? He's been injured all season long, so why bring him in for a couple games now? Let him sit and come back fully healed for the pre-season.

It's been great to watch the Flyers since the All Star break, but let's hope Fletcher makes things exciting this summer by signing some free agents?

How about both games in Uniondale, especially the first?

Seems like decades ago. It’s getting harder to defend not giving Talbot a ride on the pony.

It would have been nice to see Morin play in meaningful games, but now that they are out would they please play him? And Talbot?!

Basically anyone in the system who could dress should get a game or six. We all know what Gudas and AMac and the bottom six forwards can do, let’s see what the kids can do.

Regardless of where we finish I have a feeling for some reason they're going to go all in and move up in this draft. Maybe not Hughes but top 5. Just a hunch.

I was just thinking yesterday; if Colorado wins the lottery they already have McKinnon... What if we offered Voracek, Ghost, Ratcliffe, Sandstrom, and this years first for the 1st overall. They get a major boost to thier team and become instant SC contenders. We get J.Hughes and a lot of money to spend in FA and we hold onto Farabee and Frost.

Despite Colorado having McKinnon, they are a very top heavy team and could really benefit having another legit center. They are scratching for a wild card spot. There’s no way they don’t use that pick imo

The Flu is going around the team. No telling how much this is effecting performance.

Now they are basically out, I agree we need to see starts from Talbot to know if he is worth signing. At this point Elliot is giving me reason to keep him. Especially with Lyon in the AHL and Sandstrom coming in behind him. But we have to see Talbot to know.

Flyers looked gassed in Chicago (despite winning) and especially against the Islanders. But yesterday they played their most energetic game in awhile. The air didn't go out of the balloon until the Vrana breakaway goal made it 3-1.

Yesterday, JVR (of all players) was pretty ornery. Can't say I minded that too much.

I wasn't able to watch the game but I did look at the goal replays. Fundamental mistakes are being repeatedly made leading to goals against that really shouldn't happen. Couturier makes a really poor choice passing the puck up the middle of the ice with no clear passing lane. JVR heads up ice but then makes a big wide circle and skate back nonchalantly to his point. If he had hustled more, he could've prevented that point shot and the tip play. I don't want to single out any one player because it's team wide but this is the attention to detail missing that kills this team. I think Gordon has done a really good job but I think they need a coach with more weight behind him on the bench.

The Flyers pretty much made a decision that it will be Hart-Talbot next year when they acquired Talbot. He's not an unknown quantity. I can't really speak for his lack of playing time relative to Elliott except that Elliott went on a nice little run for awhile after he returned from injury and then Hart was back.

As for Elliott, he has done pretty well overall since returning. I think he's been a maintenance plan (aka needs another hip surgery) but the reinjury happened earlier this season than last, which meant there was more runway left in the season for him to return. When he returned at the tail end of last season and into the playoffs, he probably still shouldn't have been playing because he was still struggling physically and was quite ineffective. Elliott has a high pain threshold, FWIW.

Given that Elliott is in his mid-30s and is starting to have chronic injury issues, I think it would be too risky to re-sign him. Talbot is two years younger and, more important, has been healthier.
