Farabee looks blazed in every photo I've seen of him.

He should be careful, Lombardi is still on the staff.

More rhetoric. More passive/aggressive tactics that you accuse others of.

Flyers didn't have a second round pick in that draft. Holmgren traded it for Daniel Carcillo. Two picks after the Flyers slot Kucherov was drafted.

Carcillo though. Huge.

I wonder if LA could be possible trade partners with the flyers. They are a team in a bad situation. With their core they have maybe 1 shot left and the Kovalchuk signing didn't help, Carter and Quick keep getting hurt, and Kopitar, Brown, Clifford, Lewis, etc are one year older.

Doughty signed a contract last year that gave him a NMC for this season only. As of the last day of this season and the first day of next he could be traded. I just wonder if this season has changed LA's mind about the future. If they traded Kopitar, Quick, and Doughty at the draft they could get a huge hull and start a rebuild for real.

So the 57 picks before him were all bad drafting as well?

Just stop.

Didn't say that. Who is to say if the Flyers had their second round pick they wouldn't have drafted Kucherov? And on what planet is Carcillo worth a second round pick? The Flyers couldn't even get a second round pick for Simmonds.

Because the flyers elected to get a roster player instead of multiple draft picks. Fletcher stated he wanted roster help now and for later, not an asset that we wouldn’t see for some time. Plus, Hartman is a former 1st rounder. Regardless your argument and point are both very weak

Point isn't weak at all. I'll ask again. On what planet is Daniel Carcillo worth a second round pick and a roster player Scottie Upshall.

On planet Earth.

Not every situation is the same, the player market is different every year. It is supply and demand. The market for Simmonds was weak because there were better options out there. Trades are like auctions, gms auction off their players and the highest bidder gets them. At the time the Flyers were also strapped for cap space and couldnt make any AHL call ups.

The bold text I solely addressed about flyers couldn’t get a 2nd for Simmonds is the weak point I was referring to.

Please. That trade was absurd on every level. Don't try and defend it.
Just like trading a 2 & 4 for Pavel Kubina's corpse was supply and demand.

I don't believe that Doughty and Kopitar are going to be traded.

Doughry has a NMC through 22-23

So the better option was to lose a player to waivers when Briere came off of LTIR?

By the way, glad to see you're staying true to form, not being here consistently for months until the season is effectively over.

Fair enough. The point of rehashing the Carcillo trade was to show throwing picks away on garbage can have long lasting effects. Sure there are no guarantees they would have selected Kucherov with that second round pick, but they didn't have the pick so it wasn't an option.

He wasn't even ranked in the top ten Euro skaters at the time.

Who knows they may have drafted him? Or they could have drafted Lucas Lessio for all we know.

I doubt there is anyone on this site who has more opinions based on hindsight than you do. That is a fact.

And no the Flyers didn't get a second rounder for Simmonds. They got a roster player who was a first rounder. Ill take that every time.

I get it but that was Homer and how he was. He made “help me now” trades. Some worked, others backfired horrendously. He was too aggressive at times and short-sighted.

Yes. I always deal in hindsight. I'll dig out the posts from when they hired Hakstol. When I questioned what his credentials were becoming an NHL head coach without spending a single day on an NHL bench. That was hindsight right? How'd Hakstol work out?

The hindsight of being dead set against the Morin pick prior to the 2013 draft, more hindsight.

You guys talking about Game 3 OT hero in the 2010 playoffs Daniel Carcillo?

Also why we even talking about a trade 10 years ago.

So the TLDR version is you are a hockey knowledge God and everyone that has ever worked for the Flyers is not.

Yep. Glad we can agree on something for a change.
