only a few more games of this crap to watch

anyone that thinks a few minor moves is all that is needed, is clueless

this team has serious issues

adding 2 or 3 middle roster players will not fix this mess

- homiedclown

Depends on what’s considered minor.

Dahlin, Mitts, Nylander, Tage, Pilut will all improve internally

One trade of Risto for a top 6 forward and a decent FA signing like Donskoi/Hayes and this team competes.

We shouldn’t under rate the fact that we have the leagues best D man developing here

If we tank again I'm legit changing teams and never coming back.

I trust what you say. But it seems there’s always something the Sabres can use to sell their fans on. High draft pick, new acquisition, new coach, new GM, a place to put your beer in the arena bathrooms, fan appreciation day.
This isn’t the Florida Panthers. Management knows the fans will always show up, buy sweaters and overpriced underwhelming concessions. In relative terms of the league, it’s a fairly low-pressure situation.

Still leaves us with an underachieving bottom 6 and half a bad defense. Dahlin, Pilut, Montour are not enough. Might as well keep Scandella as an actual bottom pair and PK guy if he's not worth much in trade. Is McCabe fine? Risto and Bogo still cause too many headaches.

Can the d next year be
Dahlin-Borgen
Pilut- Montour
McCabe-Bogo

I think you can find a way to move Scandella
Hunwick is the #7

Borgen will be 23 in December next year so he can either play or he can't I'm excited to see him

Little early on the Borgen projection, but he's a 4th round pick dman. They take time. Also his rookie year in the AHL. But he's progressing nicely. I wonder what the org thinks of Dougherty.

You can also change the bottom six pretty quick
Skinner- Eichel- Nylander
Olofsson- (Risto trade)- Reinhart
Sheary- Mittelstadt- (FA or Thompson)
Wilson- ERod- ?
Sobotka extra

don't qualify Larsson/ Girgensons
Now I don't know what we have in Olofsson and Nylander but Olofsson is 24 this summer. You need to put Olofsson and Nylander in a spot to succeed or deal them

Thats exactly who I would go over to. I am so (frank)ing fed up with this third-rate organization. If they mailed it in to start next season I'm (frank)ing gone.

I have been thinking it. Gray Stone jersey would be nice.

I think you keep one of these for the PK. If you don't qualify them, they need to be upgraded with a bottom 6, PK efficient center who can score 15-20 more points/season.

oh, and replace Sobotka with someone who can successfully play the type of minutes he plays. Holy poop.

I think you might be right. If this team sees any improvement next season, it’s more likely to come from internal player development than someone(s) brought in from the outside.

Hopefully the leap will be huge, but it’s more likely to be modest. After next year there looks to be much more flexibility in their options.

I agree it's early but in the NHL when you're 23 you pretty much are what you are

tage did not improve in this his second season

there should be a plan B and plan C for him

just like there should have been back up plans for Berglund and Casey as our middle centers this year

we need a few more montour/skinner moves, not what I consider minor moves, sheary and hutton

this team is playing at a 54-56 point per full season pace since the ten game winning streak

even lower pace once we got montour

Another big thing is the goaltending has to be better next year. I guess just cross our fingers on Hutton/ Ullmark bring in a new goaltending coach, while we wait on UPL for another few years

If I have to keep one it's Larsson but I think either are pretty easily replaced

Bottom 6 can be filled out pretty well with Rochacha players next year. CJ Smith, Goalofsson and Asplund or O'Regan could all potentially be here.

Guys like Girgs and Sobotka get replaced by players who can actually contribute and we're in a lot better shape.

Girardi and Chara would say otherwise fwiw.

If he'd been in the minors for another year, I'd agree. You do need to make big strides quickly if you're a late bloomer like that. It isn't unheard of though. Plenty of guys have broken in at 23-24 and seen success.

I think he's a defensive minded, bottom pairing guy, so isn't like people are hoping he's our savior.

Who did? He’s looked competent when playing with talent. He’s looked lost when he isn’t. Same for most young players.

Risto for RNH and signing Donskoi gives us

Skinner (if signed) Eichel/ Nylander
Young player X/RNH/Reinhart
CJ/Thompson/Mitts/Donskoi
Who-The (frank)-cares

I’d keep Larsson for D zone work and move on from Girgs/Wilson/Sobotka

now nylander is a first line winger?

even if nylander worked out and all those moves are made

still need 2 top 4 d men that are decent to go with dahlin and montour

I guess what you consider minor moves, I consider half an overhaul being needed

Win #2 draft Kakko

Trade Risto for RNH.
Trade the other first for a top 4 dman.
Sign Skinner

Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart
Mitts-RNH-Kakko

Easy as pie.
