Spezza's 7.5 covers most of Duchene's likely contract, Methot's 4.5 can be split among Lindell's new contract and Duchene's and that still leaves the team with 5 mil to sign the depth of their roster. 9.5 for Duchene (looks high to me but it's UFA), 4.75 for Lindell, contracts for Honka and Fedun hardly change, don't resign Janmark and grab a couple sub-1mil contracts to fill out the bottom-6.

I am biased since I am a Kings fan but I don't see them winning again anytime soon let alone quickly. The Kings are in a horrible spot right now with Brown, Kopitar, Quick, Kovy and Carter all under contract still. Brown at least has improved last year and played decent this year so maybe someone might want him now.

But as for the others, the Kings can't really rebuild how they want with those players on the team. Kopitar is slow and checked out many games ago but no one will take on his contract. Carter was invisible most of the season. Kovy had signs of good stuff and put up some points, but he likely would have put up a lot more on a team that can score and not a slow, dump n chase team. Quick is done but maybe there is some team who would want him.

So, the Kings will either only be able to get rid of some old 4th liner core players like Lewis and Clifford, or maybe get lucky and at least trade 2-3 of those I mentioned above. I just wish the Kings would be able to get the #1 pick as they really need a new face of the team and a true #1 center.

Watch out for the Red Wings ride for pride. They went on a run to close out last season and built some serious momentum heading into this season. It really worked too. They started 1-10. 👍 Red Wings beat the Golden Knights the other night right in Vegas. I stayed up late and watched the game with a trusted source I met up with.
