Flames paying the price for not addressing goalies?
Have you watched any of the games??? Goaltending is the only reason they haven’t been swept. Smith has been incredible. Flames are giving the avalanche quality chance after quality chance. Smith is the only thing keeping them in the game. |

It's pretty clear he doesn't watch the games. He just looks at spread sheets |

50% is spreadsheets.
the other 50% is pulling facts right out of his ass, e.g. blaming calagary's goaltending. |

Every once in while reading your stuff or the comments to it I think maybe people are too hard on this guy or maybe he has a point that's too obscure to be obvious. Then you write something like
"The Flames are paying the price for not addressing their goalie situation."
and it's clear you either don't have a clue or are just phoning it in.
Smith has a .931 save percentage, 5th best in the playoffs. He has 22 more saves than the next closest goalie (Binnington) and that guy has played one more game. He's stood on his head for four games and is the absolute least of Calgary's problems. If you're going to write one line about that series it's the very stupidest, laziest thing you could have written.
Maybe you'll backpedal by saying it was sarcasm. |

Yup really not sure he even looked at spreadsheets for this one. How Tanner can say Mike Smith is the issue with a .931 save % and has faced nearly 40 more shots than his series counterpart...is beyond me.
James, even if you just watched the game recaps or highlights you'd know Smith is getting no goal support. Calgary's top scorer in the playoffs is Sam Bennett with a whopping 4pts!! That's good enough for 28th among skaters in the playoffs. The next Flame doesn't make the list until #61 and that's Backlund. Sitting outside the top 100 are Monahan (130) and Gaudreau (169).
So yeah, goaltending has not been the issue in Calgary. |

I actually have been watching the games. I think you're letting game one cloud your judgement. That was a great performance. |

To quote Kevin Weekes on NHL Network after the 6 - 2 Flames loss, "if Smith Hadn't been in there the Avs would have scored 15." It's like the level of 'analysis' of the rawest, newest hockey fan. "Team lost, they must need a batter goalie." It's not that he's at some advanced level that we're unable to grok, he's just an idiot. |

0% spreadsheets, there's only been four games, but I'm sure the stats say he's doing fine. I based this entirely off blowing a 2-0 lead with ten minutes to go, and all three goals were stoppable. |

I can't take this article seriously when the author stats "The Flames are paying the price for not addressing their goalie situation." when Mike Smith has a .931 save %
What a horrible, narrow sited take I couldn't read another sentence after it. |

game one???? how about game four when he made 52 saves and posted a .942 sv % or three where he made 50 saves, got rung out to dry for 6 goals and still had a .893 sv % if that doesnt tickle your fancy there is always game two where he was the first star of the game, made 36 saves and had a .926 sv %
i think you need to outright delete this post homie

It was a lazy comment to make which I based entirely on the final ten minutes of the third period of the last game. I apologize to Mike Smith and his loyal legion of fans for letting ten minutes (and the entire regular season) cloud my judgement. |
