Despite the Panthers financial woes in Sunrise, due first in key to poor game attendance, their owner in Vincent Viola has given GM Dale Tallon the right to spend all the way up to the cap ceiling for next season. That will begin with them looking to remedy the number one cause of their post trade deadline downfall which was in goal, by pursuing Bobrovsky as their first option.
Aside from goal, they will also be heavily in on the potential Panarin sweepstakes with Quenneville being their new coach, in an attempt for the two to become well acquainted for a second time. Despite Panarin having said he wants to play in a major hockey market city, and one near huge waters if possible, he has also expressed his interest for popular cities such as Miami. The question will be what suits him greater in importance, in either the city to play in, that to reside in, or a combination of both close to big waters.
But then again, in the event of reaching at least the E. C. Finals, the Blue Jackets results in any means thereafter could change Panarin's mind about relocating at all. That's why Gorton, nor anyone else can claim it's a given that he will simply sign July 1st with the Rangers, even should J.D. also depart Columbus to replace Sather as team President. However, he must be target #1 to speed their rebuild with the luck now of either Kakko or Hughes arriving shortly earlier.

I don't care that the Rangers as it appears today, may have paid higher than expected to acquire Fox. It was the correct necessary move to make right now while within their grasp, rather than be greedy and chance waiting and hoping he would still be available, despite for free, about 1 & 1/3 years later. Could you imagine the uproar by Rangers fans had they not acquired Fox, and had in key, either the Isles or Devils instead landed him in some trade with the Canes at any point prior to August of 2020? |

I wonder if Edmonton would be into just getting 3 picks considering they have all world talent already, with McDavid and draisitl. They need depth and more cheaper ELC guys eventually. I think you could strike a deal with them.
Like 19-28-and the TB second. Maybe a Vesey or something like that added in. Dallas really needs to win this series tho - Slimtj100
They have no one to play with those guys and I think they want to make the playoffs next year, not wait 2 more years for draft picks to develop to play with them. I think a package of NHL ready guys is more likely than a package of draft picks. |

Yea but the 8 pick probably won’t play right away anyway. I don’t think Caufield, for instance, would play right away

Friedman stated earlier in his 31 Thoughts that the cap may not be going up as much as had been speculated.
If true, that is good news for the Rangers. Cap-strapped teams will have less flexibility and allows a team like us to maximize our young, cheap surplus.
This off-season just keeps getting better and better!
