Friedman stated earlier in his 31 Thoughts that the cap may not be going up as much as had been speculated.
If true, that is good news for the Rangers. Cap-strapped teams will have less flexibility and allows a team like us to maximize our young, cheap surplus.
This off-season just keeps getting better and better!
Go Gorton Go! - TommyGTrain
Maybe he should inquire about McKinnon lol holy smokes hes unreal. I’m kidding obviously. But yea, his plan is really coming together!
Just looked at his salary, 6.3!!! That’s it???? Jesus that a bargain
McKinnon- 6.3
Lucic- 6.0

Yea but the 8 pick probably won’t play right away anyway. I don’t think Caufield, for instance, would play right away - Slimtj100
Ya but why trade that pick for guys even further away from playing? Maybe COL would make a trade from 4? |

Friedman 31 thoughts NYR:
On what the Rangers' summer will look like:
- It will be an "interesting" summer, want games to start to matter.
- With big markets out of the playoffs, cap might not go up as much as was thought
- Rangers will want good players from teams in a cap crunch.
- Re offer sheets: They could conceivably drop the condition on the 2020 pick to Carolina (make it strictly a 2nd) if they needed to use the third in an offer sheet.
- Rangers will be "using all their muscle" to improve this off-season.

Brendan Smith buyout numbers
2019-20: cap hit only 970K (Girardi still 3.6 mil)
2020-21: cap hit jumps to $3,145,833 (but Girardi's goes from 3.6 to 1.1 mil)
2021-22: 1.145 mil
2022-23: 1.145 mil
CLAUSE DETAILS: 2017-19: Player submits a 15 team trade list. / 2019-21: Player submits a 10 team trade list.
if I read this correctly, July 1st, Smith's approved trade list goes down from 15 teams to 10 teams, so if a trade were to happen, easier to do before July 1st |

I don’t wanna get into it but Trouba for x amount of assets/players at 8 yrs at what 8-9 mill per? Is better then EK for no players at 7 years and 3 mil more a year how exactly? doesn’t make any sense to me and it never will. They’re both injury prone if anything they’re both terrible ideas then |

You better get over it quick when Karlsson pulls that jersey over during the presser. |

oh I promise I will
I've said it before, I am scared of signing Karlsson because he is entering his 30's and his leg issues but I'd get enthused real quick if it actually happened |

I don't get it. If we sign the most dynamic forward we have had in years, why the hell do you put him on the 2nd line with Strome - mdw7413
Better matchups. |

and apparently Buchnevich is just absolutely gone from the team for absolutely nothing
like we had to put up with all his growing pains for 3 years, everything finally clicks, he's become really good, there are other Russians coming for him to play with, naaaaaaah, lets just dump him, we have Lemieux |
