Does it make any sense for the Rangers to go after Kapanen in a trade? He is a young, skilled forward who is a RFA in Toronto. Maple Leafs have the well-documented cap issues. If we draft Kakko 2nd overall, do you think it will help ease his transition to NY by having a fellow countryman already on the roster?
Plus you get the added bonus of driving Sam Rosen nuts during telecasts:
"Kakko to Kreider to Kravtsov to Kapanen ------ ITS A POWER PLAY GOAL!" |

Completely hypothetical just to see what you guys think, and I don’t think this would ever happen just curious: let’s say the Rangers wanted to get Hank a cup and went after a guy like Malkin, are you making a trade like that if it cost you Lias, WPG 1st, Buchnevich, Lundqvist and Howden?
Kravtsov Malkin Chytil
Kreider Zib Panarin
Kakko Strome Lemeuix
Smith Boo Vesey/Nam - nyrangers9479
Lundqvist won't waive for the Pens and losing Malkin kills their cup chances. I am not against Malkin being here but there is little chance he gets traded to the Rangers. Plus I don't like all of those players going the other way. Talk about haunting us for years. |

I am confident he meant the other Lundqvist.
At no point has anyone on this page EVER discussed what we need to do to bring the Cup to Pittsburgh!!! |

Way more sense than Nylander.
I have been impressed with Kapanen's game for a couple seasons already. He's like a Hagelin with more hockey sense. |

I was even thinking about the Finland factor with Kakko, like you said, and wondered if the Rangers may take a crack at Puljujarvi if they could work out a reasonable deal with Oilers
but he is coming off surgery, not sure if it's even realistic to think about |

Sorry I totally misinterpreted your proposal. I thought you wanted to send Hank to Pitt for his cup. |

That trade would leave you guys with $6M and one goalie. So you figure about $4M after you sign a cheap backup. The following offseason you'd have to sign Kreider, Stinky/Nam, Strome, Vesey, Fast, Nieves and Georgiev |

I don't hate that lineup. - JRR1285
Malkin isn't being traded...so there's that
I also wouldn't put all my eggs in the Georgy basket after one good season. Plenty of young goaltenders have had great first seasons and then fell off a cliff once the league figured them out. |

I don’t like Karlsson for a number of reasons like his age and lack of defensive play in his own end but the way I look at it is we have guys, esp now with Fox that are younger, better in their own end and can still move the puck. Are any of them close to Karlsson offensively? No. But can ADA/Fox/Skjei be 35-45 point guys? Yes. Karlsson is going to start declining, his goals have already drastically declined and soon his point totals will do the same. We would be paying for a 25 year old version of a 30 year old. |

I know.
That is why they are going to ship him to Edmonton for Draisaitl. Keep up. |

Other than Georgie and I guess Kreider, you could almost let everyone else walk. Not that I'm advocating for trading for Malkin. |

We have no idea what Fox will actually look like at the NHL level. I am not disagreeing about the bold part with you, it's absolutely true. But he is a game breaker on the back end. He is still doing 25 YO Karlsson things at 28 (soon to be 29). |
