Who's gonna back up the brinx truck for Gardiner, LL or Shero? - tomburton99
I'm both excited and terrified to see what Lou does this summer. I know he's going to be active, but looking back at deals like Marleau's and Zaitsev's doesn't exactly inspire too much confidence.
Not worried in the slightest about them signing Gardiner. I am worried about them signing Ferland to like a $5Mx6 deal or something asinine like that. For the record, I like Ferland and I'd love him on here but they can't overpay for someone who's really probably just a really good bottom six forward.

*Whispers*, if the Rangers miss on the top tier Forwards I can want them to sign Ferlund. He got enough scoring touch to not be terrible and can be that new NHL "enforcer" type of player.

Yeah I like him on like a $4.5 or less deal for 4 years. He's like Matt Martin except he actually has some real skill. I have to imagine the Matt Martin Reunion Tour ends after his contract expires after next season.

if the Penguins are willing to trade Malkin to one of their most hated rivals, that's a red flag to me - jimbro83
Comparing getting Malkin and Karlsson :
Malkin: only 3 years left on contract, declining but still better than what we have on roster. would cost assets in trade. hate dealing with Penguins
Karlsson: will take at least 7 year contract, at least $1-2 million more /season than Malkin, other than $$$, no assets required, will upgrade roster until chronic ankle falls off

Eh I don’t see it. I think that’s the thing they’ll need the most shortly, a captain. I really don’t want anyone associated with the last era to be it - Slimtj100
If you want a veteran, we have Zib. I wish he turns it on, I really before last season wanted Lias to grow in the captain's role because his intensity. You can't have a captain getting 15-20 pts a year though.
