You don’t know that, that’s all I hear. Like it’s guaranteed he’ll shutdown. You can say that about any player. The only answer then is to never sign another free agent, like ever again.
If he was 35 ok yea, he’d be 29 opening night. That argument doesn’t fly with me. Even if that did happen maybe they will have one a cup or two by then. - Slimtj100
You have marveled at how he is phenomenal playing on ONE LEG! That is REMARKABLE!
I am just as impressed as you are. I just acknowledge that playing on one leg is NOT SUSTAINABLE, this is where we disagree. I truly believe he is not going to age well and that his chronic ankle will only get much much worse in a short time. Can't give him a 7+ year contract with his conditions... |

No I'm just say for a spot. on the blue line. Let's say they do and sign ek 65 for 11.5 million.
That means you have...
EK @ 11.5
Shatty @ 6.65
Staal @ 5.7
Skjei @ 5.35
Smith @ 4.35
That is just way to much money to tie up on defense. - tomburton99
I understand that, but does it even matter where the money is tied up? We’ll have like 8 ELC contracts. Just bury them in the press box

I’ll send greetings when he’s Captain of a Stanley Cup winning team, then parade that you won’t be invited too!

I just want to state for the record that I am not a party to the massive curse TJ is in the process of laying on us. |

You could probably do both Staal and Smith, but that’s a last resort - Slimtj100
Let staals contract play out. He played "fine" this year
Smith..maybe buy-out
Shatty...keep fingers crossed he gets back what he had at start if season two years ago.
With better fowards, and more puck possession it can take strain off D and goalies. In two years our young D will be more ready to take over reigns, and staal and Shatty are gone. Patience is better way to go on Defense |

That's fair.
What's your stance on Trouba? You think he's 100% gone, do you want him to stay? - JRR1285
I like him a lot but he won’t sign here long term. He wants to play in the states, so ya, we can’t afford to let him play one more year and walk him to free agency, have to trade him this summer. |

Jordan Staal is playing some pretty good hockey. We ended up with the wrong Staal

So for 3 mill more a year, you don’t want all the stuff he brings? I’m still mind boggled. He’d be the game changer they would need. They’d be an absolute force to reckon with - Slimtj100
It’s 4-5 million more. Trouba will be 7-8, EK will be a 11-12 |
