I believe that is what they are doing . This year we have all of our picks and two extra 6 th round picks . I would say that falls into the continue building category this year.
- VANTEL

I hope he makes more picks than that, if they target a player then make a trade to get the extra pick they will need, Tanev or JV even Sutter may bring an extra 4th.

I don't see it that way myself. A really good player was drafted at 10th but continued to trade picks and sign established vets around the Sedins for a couple of more seasons.

Maybe Gillis finally accepted the need when he picked up the 10th in the Schneider trade but too little too late. He got himself fired and the Sedins once again were the future... who knows.

I am going to stay away from names like Rebuild or Retool . They drafted Bo 6 years ago who is a key component on this team/core.

Gillis was an idiot IMO when it came to building and signing contracts. As you know when I wrote that blog about re-signing the Twins the fall out that would occur.

I think Benning is just now seeing daylight from the havoc MG left. He did get us to the cup on Burke/Nonis core but I believe Craig Buttons could have done the same.

Anyways that is how I feel. I think we are turning the corner.

So let me get this right, you are calling me out on my prediction that was wrong?

I'm complimenting you for not rewriting your prediction and just owning it.

Like I pointed out yesterday the team has the same winning percentage with Demko. It has only been 10 games so it is way to early to predict if it will continue .

BTW this crowd wants to trade Markstrom.

- VANTEL

I think i'm the guy that first suggested it. Sell high!

I don't want to trade him for just anything, just better value.

How would I find it? I would love to read it.
Man, I so hated Gillis for that resigning and his lack of skill at drafting and his ...actuàlly, I didn't find anything I liked about Gillis.

Just don't qualify him, maybe there's value for someone at a lower price.

I know you did Petey for Hedman a few weeks back but I thought it was someone else that suggested trading Markstrom. Doesn't matter. A lot of stuff get said on here.

My take on Markstrom is keep him until TDL . Make sure Demko can handle it.

I think Demko's game changed and Markstrom's game also after spending time with Clarke.

I am fine with that. I think Sautner gives you a similar game with less mistakes and is a lot cheaper.

It actually was Boeser for Seth Jones, but ya if the team was in a different position i'd probably do Petey for Hedman.

I'm fine with keeping Markstrom until the deadline, unless you're blown away during the off-season.

It could quite possibly increase his value if he doubles down, but it will likely devalue it if he doesn't unless some team suffers an untimely injury.

Damn, I like reading the comments from back then, from the fool's who thought it was a good signing, they are probably the same ones who thought signing Loui, was a good idea, as well.

It is going to be an interesting summer. Draft in 6.5 weeks . It will be fun to see who they bring back.

I told Benning I would keep Dragon away form his Daughters if he sends Loui to Utica.

I get so wrapped up in the NFL draft, without the Canucks in the playoffs I don't follow very closely.

I still read Carol's blogs, but i'm also busy landscaping my yard, working, 2 kids, a huge (frank)ing dog, wife. I haven't been out with my buddies in nearly a year.

Also, with the Dolphins trading for Josh Rosen my thoughts have turned primarily to football until probably a few days before the NHL draft, or the SCF if I watch a bit and it's exciting hockey.

I think most people back then thought the deal was a year too long.

At the top of any Blog is a tab for "archive". Click it... then you have a month tab going back quite a few years. Every couple of years we lose a couple years of archive though. A couple of years ago, I was able to go all the way back to Mark Gage's blogs. Now most of the Gillis' era blogs are gone... if not all by now.
