Could the Canucks be in the mix? They have the picks and the cap space—and if Milan Lucic's words are any indication, they might be starting to be seen as a desirable destination, with an opportunity available to suit up alongside Vancouver's young core.

Thanks Carol , you just made Don throw up a little with the OS suggestion. This is a different year than others for sure. Let's see what happens.

I was looking forward to the Lets put the Loui thing to bed but didn't see anything on the blog

How much will the team be setback by JB trying to save his job?

Woo said his hands were shaking when he signed his contract, I like that.

Shaking hands? What. A. Beta. If he's afraid of a contract, he's gonna be a wuss on the ice. Trade him.

Lucic is a character for sure. I don't put much into what he said. I just believe he wants out of Edmonton desperately .

His contract is even worst that Loui's if there is such a contract.

Yes, thanks. I've updated the blog. Only word so far is that he won't return today. He looked like he was in a ton of pain as he left the ice, though..

Quick question on your offer sheet talk. Is there someone you wanted to see targeted by Canucks or was it just a general statement?

Just general for now. Seeing the numbers got me thinking, and there are so many possible targets this year.

I still think it's an unlikely move for the Canucks. I don't think Benning is a guy who likes to ruffle feathers.

The Canucks' own big RFA, Boeser, also needs to be factored in. I'm not sure I'd want to see them pay huge for someone who'd jump him on the depth chart or the pay scale - could create tension.

I had heard from Ryan Biech and on SN650 that because of the way Canucks brought in Boeser Hughes and Gaudette they don't have negotiating rights and can not be offer sheet candidates .

I am not sure Benning will be the guy in charge by then

I think there is some traction to the Canucks looking for a new top guy.

Imagine his hands during a game 7 in the NHL playoffs

I’m starting to wonder if this team even really interviews these kids

I think if any of the guys they want that are RFAs take a while to sign, they'll really consider it. If a guy like Kapanen goes to late August without a contract, they might try to force hands. At least one can hope....

This is very true and should be frightening. As Nucker has mentioned, a desperate GM is a dangerous one. Benning should be fired or given a vote of confidence.

Interesting. Here's the article that explains it:

https://canucksarmy.com/2...at-the-end-of-the-tunnel/

I knew Boeser wasn't arbitration eligible - most players coming out of their ELCs aren't, unless they're older.

I wasn't really worried about him getting offer sheeted, because the Canucks aren't in as tough a spot as other teams. But I didn't know that *couldn't* happen.

Interesting that the comparable is Johnny Gaudreau. Despite his poor bargaining position, he made out just fine with Calgary: six years at $6.75 million in 2016. He's already halfway through that deal!
