That was so (frank)ing stupid. They kill a dragon in 30 seconds? Are they really an advantage if they are so weak? Lot of holes this season šŸ¤¬

Minivan hasnā€™t liked me since that altercation I had with Donna. Donna and I have moved on but minivan still holds a grudge.

(frank)ing joke. The beta dragon could have at least breathed a bit of fire? Must have been a Swedish dragon šŸ‰ šŸ¤¢

I dont know man, Gillis highest pick outside of Cody Hodgson was 22nd overall where he drafted Jordan Schroeder, who, to be fair, was ranked in the top 10 all season and for some reason, which we know now, he slid far.....

But hindsight is 20/20 right? One year Gillis didnt draft until the 4th round.

Dave Nonis didnt exactly light up the draft board either. Quite frankly, Burke was brutal. Pat Quinn was ok. Jack Gordon was horrible with gimme picks.....do we need to continue?

JB is likely the best at this point, but lets not bash Gillis over draffting when he was generally always in the 25-30 range year in, year out....

- chompsey

I'll start random
94 Ohlund, Scatchard
95 Sopel, Schaefer
96 nope
97 Cooke
98 Allen Ruutu
99 Daniel Henrik
00 nope
01 Umberger Bieska
02 nope
03 Kesler
04 Schneider, Edler, Brown, Hansen
10 year period and 16 players making the NHL. That's not bad. I'm not looking up to see which GM drafted which player

After that it gets uglier

the problem with trying to wrap up such a complex story in such a short amount of time.

how quickly the night king was defeated was even more frustrating.

It's is apples and banana's between the two. Not close at all. One is building a core through the draft and the other traded away all his picks and was terrible at drafting. Hindsight but maybe if Gillis could have drafted an NHL worthy player, Van could have won the cup.
- manvanfan

His trades and handing out NTC to get under the cap is why they won presidents trophyā€™s and went to cup final

If he refuses to hand out the NTC and has to pay more per player then he probably canā€™t make any of the trades or bring in the players he did and thereā€™s probably no slaying the dragon let alone cup run

The exact point I was making earlier. Canuck fans female dog incessantly about the NTC's, but, it was a tactic that was utilized to make them a contender much like Luongos backdiving contract.....Gilman was a genius!

Yes thatā€™s exactly it. The middle seasons were dragging on didnā€™t have much content. THe last season is far too rushed. Guess they just wanted it done

There was a lot of things the management did with that team that was pretty ingenious ...as a non canucks fan I hated it ...but I respected it

We know the final product. Losing in the cup finals and failing to be able to provide any help to the aging vets by drafting poorly. Handing out NTC which don't allow you to trade them away when the value is high, to again provide help in the form of youth to aging vets.

If Gillis hit's on more draft picks, then he needs to trade away less draft picks. Maybe things would have been different. Gillis was terrible at drafting.

Everyone STFU, I'm not watching it until tonight. Otherwise I will forever ruin movies as I get to go to a lot of advanced screenings.

Oh, I dont know, if thats your standard please dont forget the 3 preceding drafts before Gillis was brought on.....only TWO players became NHLers.....Mason Raymond and Michael Grabner.....had Nonis drafted better, to your point, then maybe we are talking about a Canucks Cup....

That hate on for Gillis is pretty one-dimensional.....

Gillis made moves to help solidify the best team in canucks history ...a couple bad breaks with injuries and a hot goalie prevented him from having a statue of himself outside the rink

You are definitely a glass half empty type of guy ....

Why only 3 drafts? Nonis had 4 drafts and the first included Schneider, Edler, Brown, Hansen.

Then Gillis went and traded Grabner for Ballard before Van went to the finals.

The TV show took over the story. The unwritten books are going to be completely different.

The night wussy king doesn't even exist in the books. Even Little Finger was harder to kill than him. All kinds of nonsense written by HBO

True true. Hopefully the books are better and differ more, though GRRM has told them how it ends and signed off on what theyā€™re doing...
