8 mill offer for Trouba and 5 for Kapanen or Johnsson I'd be very happy with.
Trouba is worth 1,2,3. Kapanen/johnsson both worth 1 and 3. |

I am not sure Benning will be the guy in charge by then
I think there is some traction to the Canucks looking for a new top guy. - VANTEL

Interesting. Here's the article that explains it:
https://canucksarmy.com/2...at-the-end-of-the-tunnel/
I knew Boeser wasn't arbitration eligible - most players coming out of their ELCs aren't, unless they're older.
I wasn't really worried about him getting offer sheeted, because the Canucks aren't in as tough a spot as other teams. But I didn't know that *couldn't* happen.
Interesting that the comparable is Johnny Gaudreau. Despite his poor bargaining position, he made out just fine with Calgary: six years at $6.75 million in 2016. He's already halfway through that deal! - Carol Schram
Thank you I was searching for that, you saved me a lot of looking

Agree to disagree. When you know a guy can get 20 goals and play top6 that is super young with plenty more upside that's better than a good and pretty good prospect
who may or may not make your lineup IMO. |

I think so in a way.
I really do see a lot of things turning now in favor of the Canucks . Everyone had us in dead last spot last year and I think they did a hell of a lot better than expected.
They picked up some good pieces in trades . The goal tending is coming around and they made some good signings from the NCAA at the middle to end of the year.
Benning has set himself up nicely for some big moves this year and people want him pushed out the door. I don't think there is anyone available right now to step in and do better but it will quiet the Benning anger for a bit.
I sort of want to see how it plays through next year. I think they were just turning the corner on a hard situation.

The Canucks will have a lottery pick next year and there are some incredible prospects. Way out of Kapanens caliber. Leafs would love if we offered sheeted him |

Why not just offer sheet him at 4.2 mil? Perfectly fine giving up a second for him. I think he'd take it as well as he can grow in a bigger role with the young Canucks, and TO will probably offer him less. |

A lottery pick?! You think we’re going to be worse with a full season of QH than we were this year? Why? |

I think you have to take it outside of what the leaves might pay. That was what i was thinking. Imo Dubas can make 4.2 work. |

Any non-playoff team has a lottery pick. I don’t mean top 3. |

Because they have no defense and almost no scoring. |

Ah i see. Yes that’s likely true. It’s a top15 pick. I would always take the bird in the hand. Johnsson and Kapenen have both proven they can play top6 better than 9/12 of our forwards. I love what Kapanen brings in terms of physicality/forechecking and Johnsson is very good in the O-zone and would instantly make our powerplay better. Out of a 1st and 3rd you might get one nhl player and it’s unlikely they would be as productive as either. Yes there’s a chance it turns into a top 3 pick, a risk i would take. |

Which is what we had this year. And then you add 20-30 points from a new defenseman and we are worse somehow? No. As ive said from the draft last year: 2019/20 the Canucks are a bubble team. |

Quickly googled their cap, and came up with:
Even if the 2019-20 salary cap raises to its projected $83 million and even if Dubas let all his unrestricted free agents walk, he’d still only have about $8.8 million left over to keep key RFAs Mitchell Marner, Kasperi Kapanen and Andreas Johnsson, plus fill the minutes-munching gaps in his defence corps left by UFAs Jake Gardiner and Ron Hainsey.
They can trade Kadri and maybe Nylander, but won't get market returns for them. They're in a jam big time: they can't sign both Kapanen AND Johnsson for $4 mil+ each. Marner going to get $10 mil+ himself I think. |

Fair, I just believe whoever is selected at 10 next year will be way better than Kap. The draft is that special. We obviously don’t evaluate either player the same |

I’d do a 2nd for Kap.
No one way would I trade a 1st, let alone +.
I think we’ll see those kind of trades that could have been offer sheet type equivalents.
Goldobin and a 2nd?

Sign me up. Even Hutton and a 2nd – Toronto is going to need some D once Hainsey and Gardiner leave. |
