sansa will rule them all.

She's my pick as well even though I'm not a huge fan of her character

Can't be. She does not have a legitimate claim. If that happens, she won't be my queen.

But it kind of is if youre going to poop on Gillis for his lack of success. Nonis had 6 guys in 4 years play over 100 games, Gillis had 6 in 5, Burke 8 in 6, Quinn 27 in 10.

Quinn stands out as the champ there, but, Gillis wasn't exactly set up for success by Nonis' drafting which you so graciously poop on Gillis for....

Yes nonis isn't a gm anywhere for a reason

After last episode I see Dany dying now, Jon won't take the throne, any of the Lannisters is implausible, basically that leaves Sansa. I dunno if she'll rule from the iron throne but she will be a queen

I wasn't arguing. Just been reading lots of complaints about the show lately but yet it's still one of the best programs ever. Kind of bugs me.

Just seems like we are in a 'criticize everything' culture right now (not you specifically). All of a sudden everyone's a perfectionist (again, not you specifically).

- bloatedmosquito

not at all. The show is fantastic in every way, but doesn't mean we cant form opinions that are negative. Lots of people griped about the night king's death, where as I didn't have an issue with it. I stated my opinion, but not with the intention of trying to convince anyone to join in lol. The show has undoubtedly surpassed everyones expecations from season 1 till now, hard to complain too hard about it, but it also shouldn't be void of criticism

Nonis, by far IMO, was the worse GM. Useless. I don't give credit to Nonis for Luongo just like I don't give Gillis credit for Hamhuis (as minivan pointed out). Both deals happened not because of savvy negotiating. Both opportunities were handed to them.

I get this really bad feeling we will see a Sopranos-type ending. Fade to black leaving fans with a WTF.

This started out as a comparison between Quinn and Gillis Cup run teams. It quickly turned into the Gillis loyalists discussion.
- Reubenkincade

It's not a Gillis loyalist discussion.

It's just odd that one GM is adored and the other despised (even though his team reached loftier heights)

It's not like Quinn didn't make mistakes either.

I read a blurb this morning that an American military advisor was making a mockery of the Game of Thrones war scenes lol...some guy writes in 'you realize that this is fantasy and not a real military reality right'?

i have seen more criticism than praise online in these first 4 episodes of season 8. To each their own, but I think they have been really well done, just very "condensed". Again, not sure why they felt like 6 episodes to complete 7 seasons worth of story was enough, but they aren't doing a bad job at it.

It certainly feels after last night like they've painted themselves into a corner with the last 2 episodes. I expect there to be lots of hysteria online when it ends.

All true. I think my perception is skewed because of the coverage outside of this forum. I bring my frustration into here. Projecting a little bit.

I see that happening with canuck talk too. I found that attitudes in here generally level-headed. But sometimes we are all painted with the same 'hysterical fans' brush.

Anyway, I'm calling Arya under someone else's face on the throne.

It would normally be so easy to dismiss a fantasy show that way except for the fact that the writer based most of his battle sequences off of real world wars using military tactics, etc. from the past.

This particular one was not written in the books so it was left up to showrunners who haven't done any history research in comparison to the author. It was just a little jarring after the attention to detail the audience is used to.

I agree, everywhere you look someone is complaining "episode 3 was too dark" "why didn't everyone die" "how did Arya sneak past" etc etc etc. People like to complain about everything. The show has been unreal, and I thought episode 3 season 8 was the best episode ever created, or at least on par with battle of the bastards.

Much of the novel's storylines are taken from historical Royal situations (England, France, Russia, etc.). PBS did a thing on that years ago basically pointing out that GoT has nothing on actual historical Royal events.

I think the show is great, it just hasn’t lived up to its own standards — and that’s mainly because they don’t have the books to go off anymore. George Martin’s writing is the backbone, and the showrunners were able to bring it alive. They don’t have the same skills he does to write the twists and plot that captivated everyone at the start IMO. Now it’s become a bit more predicatable, but that’s also what happens when it’s coming down to the final few episodes.

Agreed that if they extended it to the normal 12 or 13 or whatever it would be way better and less cramped. Not sure why they think adding 20 minutes to 4 episodes and cutting 6 whole ones would make it better.

For me the show's high point was the Red Wedding. But as far as battles go, for me, it was Hardhome. That was intense.

Think it’s going to be John, but he’s going to have a sacrifice or something to win the war. Killing Dany or Sansa or something.
