Pshhh. He’s a draft eligible guy whose coach trusts him out there vs CDN NHLers in crunch time protecting a 1 goal lead. Played some tenacious D, caused the turnover, & sprung himself for the breakaway. The goal was the least impressive part of that shift (but some people only care about the box score I guess). - DrChristianTroy
And some people get boners after looking at Cosmo . Different things excite different people. |

All-in on the Lucic/Eriksson swap. If Edm tosses in a pick we are good to go.
- LordHumungous
My hatred for Eriksson is absolute, but I’d take him over Lucic any day. Especially with one less year. |

You have to admit, taking on a god awful contract is an effective way to get rid of a terrible one. |

I know myself back in the summer of 2016 I said i wanted neither Lucic, LE, nor any other high priced long term free agent.
I did say that i'd prefer LE to ML, but thought both contracts would become anchors.
It's amazing than however bad LE has been (and he's been awful), he's still more highly regarded than Lucic on a team that is without much toughness.
Given all of that, despite the extra year i'd still trade LE for Lucic if the pot was sweetened enough. |

Therein lies the key.
What is sweet enough?
Without being completely unrealistic and asking for a 1st rounder or Bouchard, what would enough to entice you??
A 3rd rounder?? a 2nd ?
Prospects - Puju? Yamamoto?
How about Lucic, Skerja (2 big salaries), Puju and a 2nd
For
LE, Hutton, Goldobin and a 4th.

To be honest, i'm not interested in anything less than 2 2nd round picks, including the Oilers pick this year.
It's a division rival to begin, and there is no reason to take on a worse player and actual dollars unless we're properly compensated. Throw in the extra year and you see why the cost is so high.
I think LE has more trade value moving forward due to his contract that you should be paid a premium.
Does it makes sense to Edmonton? Probably not, but i'm talking purely from a Vancouver perspective. |

I agree, why do it just for the sake of change, they’re both equally bad yet contribute in their own way, you only do it if it’s beneficial for us.
Roussel was our fourth leading forward in scoring, that’s an issue, draft picks can help you in a few ways to help improve your forward group. IE: Carolina acquiring Terevainen. |

The last player to play more than 100 games, and was a second round pick, for the Canucks was Mason Raymond in 2005. Before that it was Chubarov in 1998. As an organization it’s just so pathetic how they’ve drafted or used those picks for quick short term help. That’s gotta stop!
You don’t have to find an Aho every draft, it’s just so rare, but you can find countless examples of guys who contribute on that second level top six scoring. Right now we have none of that from drafting. |

it seems that for years they always swung for the fences with those picks , rather than just picking the safest guy . the lack of homegrown 24-28 yr old players is just a void that is so hard to overcome.
i remember on here seeing a lot of emojis when Carlo was drafted , but man he would sure look good here now.
no matter who we draft we have to have coaches that will play the guys |
