I remember once reading about the worst, non tough guy, NHL players in history. I think B. Gaunce, Jay Beagle and Dale Wiese were in that conversation

Beagles contract is BS. But the boys played hard this year and he destroyed the combine. He leads by example and is good in the room. No doubt he is a tremendous leader. He also stands up for the kids (yes, he is not a fighter). I like the guy and he provides value. Still wish we didn’t sign him though.

Is what it is. We need what he brings and lets see where he's at after a full healthy season on an improving club. Sure many don't like the contract, but his numbers and championship his last 5 years in WAS speak for themselves. If we can get 80% of that with this club hopefully improving next year all good. Gaunce isn't even in the same time zone lol for where this team is heading and what it needs.

I like Beagle too. If they keep trimming the fat from the team, his addition shouldnt be anything to female dog about.

For me, there are many players who’s value is diminished because of poor contracts. It’s just so glaring when those players are on the Canucks roster.

I just hate the low bar that so many fans seem content with. “Hey, he’s an upgrade on Gaunce so I’m cool with it.”

Well no (frank)ing poop he’s an upgrade on an AHL player lol. Even Nic Dowd is an upgrade on Gaunce because he’s in the NHL and playing in a checking/PK role on a good team.

Roussel and Vanek are the only UFA’s signed over the past 2 summers that were actually good deals. The rest have been poor value.

Im not the best person to judge these things because I’m super biased for the following reasons:

1. I hate Benning so I think all his UFA signings have been poop.
2. I think all NHLers are overpaid so every time I see contract details I’m like
3. I’m so pessimistic about the Canucks right now I can’t shine a positive light on anything Canuck related.

I can’t believe there is not more outrage in here about the whole situation.

Gaunce....

Another 1st round bust by Gillis.

Seven 1st round opportunities, traded one away for Ballard, picked 6 times... only Horvat is in the NHL.

Even Nonis did better in half the time.

they will do probably get him to join Button as draft specialist

Just got this from my business partner in CA.

"We are leaving tomorrow to go to our niece's wedding. She is marrying one of the Sharks trainers, and rumor has it that Patty Marleau will be there, should I wear a jersey?"

Exactly. Edmonton, Chicago, LA... im pretty sure most teams have them, it’s just the lay of the land that guys get overpaid and underperform sometimes.

Enemas are so 80s. No need. I’ve been doing this fasting thing and man it gives a chance for your bowels to catch up. I think I’m voiding things that are older than my kids.

He was frustrating to watch. He had the physicality and speed to be a nice forechecking 4th liner but it seemed like he thought he was better than he was. Almost like he’d expect to get moved up in the lineup after a good stretch of games but would sulk if he didn’t get more ice time.

I think that’s why he had that nice run in Montreal because he was getting top 9 minutes. Then he went back to sulking again on Chicago’s 4th line.

I can see why Torts wasn’t a fan of his

If I recall, they asked him to fight more and he was very reluctant to be that kind of player....can't say I blame him to be honest....

I think Derek Dorsett and Tom Tostitos were the most willing enforcers this team has had over the past few years.
