Friedman - If Keefe leaves Toronto, that would only be for a dynamite situation. I don't think he's going to be leaving, and I don't think Buffalo is going in the direction of Keefe either. #Sabres #CoachWatch

Friedman on Sheldon Keefe - If someone wanted him as their head coach, I don't think Toronto would stand in his way. However, Dubas and Keefe are tight, and barring something strange happening, Keefe is in line to replace Mike Babcock as head coach of the Maple Leafs. #CoachWatch

Friedman - I heard a rumor that Bob Boughner was in the mix for the #Sabres' coaching search, but I don't think the team wants to go down that route again. #CoachWatch

Friedman - I know the #Sabres have looked into Todd McLellan, Dave Tippett, and we'll see how this Ralph Krueger situation unfolds.

Friedman on Ralph Krueger - I have had people tell me that I'm under-selling this and that talks are further along than we thought. If this hiring does happen, it may happen some time later this week. I think he has a legitimate shot at the job. #Sabres

Probably late but

- Stripes77

wow

guy can't even get a repeat gig coaching a country in a short tournament

but yet he will get eichel and dahlin

very disturbing if they hire this "yes man"

Hutton is who he is, above average back up that can start for a longer period of time because of injury, but IMO, he is NOT a starter. To me he is a lot like Martin Biron, great back up, below average starter....
- hehateme

I think this is fair. I also think in hockey, it's not about having an elite goaltender (necessarily), it's about a goaltender getting hot at the right time.

Martin Jones had an .896 save percentage in 62 games this year. That's burtal. Binnington was a nobody.

I have faith that in the right structure, both goalies will be fine for now. Hopefully UPL is really good in a couple of years

on Hutton

he is one of those goalies I would rank in the 10 to 25 rankings

pull a name out of the hat to get those rankings

it's all about the D or lack of D in front of him, and our D was pathetic

we added Montour and as a group they got worse

dougie Hamilton is playing scared and the hockey world is all over him for it...yeah, it's great to have puckmovers and offensive-type d-men and every team needs them, but they need to have the intestinal fortitude to do their jobs when the opposition is bearing down on them.
- Michael Pachla

Spot on Michael. Ahhh, the art of building a winning TEAM, not just a capable roster.

I have been leading the call for Botts to bring in guys who are tough to play against, who win puck battles, who get the puck back when it is lost...truculence .
They need it in the Forward and Defensive ranks.

I'm not a fan of that strategy in general. I think Housley juggled the goalies too much as it was, and never let them settle in. Carrying 3 just exacerbates that problem. That said, if UPL is healthy, and he's the best option, they may have to. But out of defense, offense and goaltending, goaltending will be the least of our worries imo. I think in a properly structured environment, these two should be ok.

Actually, I'll throw coaching ahead of goaltending too

Yup yup yup.

But he might hire a coach who spent the last 5 years as a soccer executive, so he should be all set there

The difference between the two was consistency imo. Marty could string great performances together, and then completely fall apart for a couple. Miller was consistently good, but rarely great
