Lawrence Pilut underwent successful shoulder surgery and will be out of action for five-six months.
The defenseman played 33 games this season and had six points. Pilut was injured in an AHL game on April 24. He should return within the first month of the season, barring any setbacks. |

The team started pointing fingers at him, and he started pointing fingers at the team.
It's a miserable environment when high compete individuals lose. That has to stop. The fanbase and the management have to stop believing there are positive outcomes from losing. That is no longer true. |

OTT has asked for (and received) permission from DAL to interview Stars’ assistant coach Rick Bowness. Bowness will be the sixth candidate interviewed by Ottawa. Others include Marc Crawford, Troy Mann, Jacques Martin, D.J. Smith and Nate Leaman.
I don't know anything about the highlighted. Can one of you smart guys weigh in? |

Michael Pachla: Impressions of, and questions concerning--G, Carter Hutton - Michael Pachla
That 10 game winning streak made this goaltending tandem look like a bargain at the time. They had only $3.5 million sunk into goaltending this year, which, if you could get playoff caliber play, is an absolute steal. Not that it's wise to be completely cheap at the position, but they need to keep the payroll there as low as possible. Assuming UPL is as good as advertised, I like that they will be able to do this for the coming years. |

goaltending matters...but so does the play in front of them...this team was a mess and i'm not going to put the full blame on individual players like risto and Scandella (which is popular here and in social media)...this was a complete train wreck led by the conductor, phil housley |

Yep .. the management could’ve stepped in last year made a trade and put a fire under them but they decided to just let it burn
Which was very irritating to watch. |

dougie Hamilton is playing scared and the hockey world is all over him for it...yeah, it's great to have puckmovers and offensive-type d-men and every team needs them, but they need to have the intestinal fortitude to do their jobs when the opposition is bearing down on them. |

I'm sensing a theme here. Does your writing here give you a reliable source for this statement, or are you basing it on your own observations of the team? (I know you watch a lot and your judgment is sound imo). |

during the 10 game streak, hutton was making the key saves to keep them in the game. after word he was letting them in.. as you said it not all on him, but i think he had a lot to do with it. |

We're going to go w all forwards.
Gerbe really wants an innovative, "forward-thinking" coach. |

that's what I don't get...pilut had a handful of games where he looked great in a sheltered role but eventually teams figured him out and he faltered...perhaps they can go to the tree of defense out back and pluck one or two great ones after trading risto and/or waiving scandella |

Also, having good players in most positions is very helpful. |
