They almost screwed it up, based on where we are today it's clear that it doesn't matter anyway. But Arturs Irbe may have been the best goalie coach of all time - mattmoulson
So true. Irbe could take any goalie and make them substantially better in a season it seemed. I'm not sure there was anyone who didn't get a leg up while he was here. Met him, he was a very intelligent guy, very well spoken. We missed out not making him the perma-goalie coach. |

I remember it being reported that Irbe simply wasn't interested in coaching in the NHL anymore. Basically, there was nothing the Sabres could have done to keep him. |

Then we didn't necessarily screw the pooch, it was his decision, but I surely hope we did everything feasible to keep him. He was great, simply great. |

My recollection is that he wanted to go home to (foreign place) and couldn’t be talkedinto staying. |

I can get that, he played in the league a long time, then coached, a lot of these guys go home eventually.
I think I was just enamored with him. He had the Midas touch. |

Lawrence Pilut underwent successful shoulder surgery and will be out of action for five-six months.
The defenseman played 33 games this season and had six points. Pilut was injured in an AHL game on April 24. He should return within the first month of the season, barring any setbacks. - SABRES 89
That could lead to him starting in the AHL again |

I hate the nickname 6K. I hate that everyone here has to give players nicknames. I hate everyone. And everything. - kritter65
I’m not a fan of a lot of the nicknames ppl here give...
but i think “6k” is actually a pretty good one |

Good point
Resign pommer
29 - 22 -21
4th line - Boss34
Not much speed or physicality on the line
If played in a defensive role,
I could see them stuck in their own end a lot |

He seemed like a good teammate. He was not a great QB, but I loved seeing his excitement when they put him in on 4th and short for a QB sneak during the first TT years |

My buddy was just telling me about a Thurman Thomas interview. Interesting.
Thurman said something in regards to wanting to follow the veteran rob ridd!ck everywhere and learn how to be " a pro"
Apparently Thurman learned quick that he was not the guy to learn from.
Show up to meetings 30 seconds before it started
Smoke cigarettes during half time.
We need solid pros to show these kids how to be pros.
Hopefully eichel learned from
Legwand
Pommer
Gorges
Guys that show up and work hard - Boss34
Gorges thought Eichel was a punk
Doubt there was much “mentoring” going on there
From what I’ve heard,
Jack wasn’t a “listening to the Vets” kinda guy...
at least when he first got here
Hopefully that’s changed

He was a great pick, a steal in the mid first round. |
