I don't know about anyone else but I am thinking they don't like Tyler Myers...which is odd as I can think of other defensemen that aren't great to avoid too...some being a free agent and some not |

Jack Johnson....Oh wait, never mind. That was last year. Carry on... |

The point here is this;
Tyler Myers playing third pair signed to a 3 year deal at 3-4 million per is fine.
Tyler Myers playing top 4 signed to a 5 year deal paying 5 -6 million per is bad, Very, very, very bad!!! |

How about giving Gardiner consideration too? He has apparent back issues and is prone to massive defensive gaffs. Oh yea, I forgot, fancy stat community loves him. |

Myers has played the last 2 seasons with that human anvil Kulikov as a partner. Play him with a physical stay at home d-man like Poolman and he is worth signing. Unfortunately Maurice will force Kulikov down the Jets throats as for some reason he thinks he's the Jets best option. Sign him for a 3-4 year deal at $5 mil per. |

People saying that Gardiner can get 7x7, and myers at 5 - 6 Mil per is the one that stands out? Don't know about that... |

He is big and he shoots right, and it's not like he is completely useless, but the money he will get in free agency will be stupid. Myers at two million on a bottom pairing? I'll take him. But Myers at $6 million expected to play top four minutes? Yikes. He should be completely avoided by any team looking to remain competitive.
Even though he played on what should have been one of the best teams in hockey last year, he was a negative differential in shot-attempts, shots, scoring chances, goals, and expected goals. I do not see how a player can be effective if he is a negative in everything that leads to a goal. He isn't a good NHL player at this point in his career. - james tanner
So he's not good, but you'll gladly pay him $2M? If he's not good, why not just go grab someone off the scrap heap for the league minimum? |

nah, really doubt it |

Islansjet - let them rag on Myers all they want, maybe it'll help our cause.
Myers has played a lot of good hockey for the Jets the last two years when healthy, they'd be lost without him.
Not the GM, but I'd gladly play Myers $6 mill for 4 years |

Top 3 D-men to avoid.
Karlsson
Myers
Gardiner
The teams that sign them will be tying up mega-millions, and for long term....
and those teams will be regretting it by year 2 or their 6-7 year contracts... |

Yes, certainly Seabrook is the best example of this |

I read and follow lots of hockey. This post if borderline offensive, in the sense it's pro-Jets with any question of objection.
Myers isn't a top pair d man. No. But he is a reliable 3-4 who could fill in (in s pinch) on top pair.
I'm a jets fan, but try to be unbiased. I like what I see at times, and others not so much. $6m.. no! $2m? Without hesitation. Reality? $4m x 3years. I'd sign him (or let him walk) at that rate without losing too much sleep whichever way it goes. |
