Night lads, hope you get the joke my Bruins friend. I'll be watching the game at a bar and enjoying a lot of vodka.

Just hearing the name 'Phaneuf' makes me shake my head. At first it was a nice little move, acquired a top 4 dman for garbage. Then, unfortunately, he was handed the #1 dman role, the captaincy, and eventually a blank cheque. The rest is history

His rookie year reminds me of Tyler Myers, where every one anointed him the second coming of Christ after a single year. My God, do I remember him being a force in Calgary though

I was more so poking fun at the Leafs' history of trading draft picks (2 in particular)

It's very much like our giving up on young 20 year olds problem

Unfortunately the 2 picks you speak of are only the tip of the iceberg for us.

Seguin and Hamilton would look absolutely tremendous for the Leafs right now though...

true, except for .... if they weren't traded as picks, burke or nonuts trades away one or both them anyways.

Not necessarily. They didn't trade Rielly and Kadri.

If they hired Shanahan or a guy with his mentality 5 years earlier, they'd probably be in the Finals by now.

true. and if a better owner bought the team instead of ballard, the 70's and 80's probably would have ended with a a couple of cup wins.

No Matthews and probably no Marner in that case. Full steam ahead.

Nah, they would have still sucked. Kessel didn't keep them out of last place and Seguin and Hamilton would have been too young to do any better than he did.

I agree with Fergie here. I don’t see Seguin or Hamilton keeping that team out of the basement.

In fact, they might have sucked extra hard in 2014/2015 and had better odds at McDavid.
