I wouldn't either, not at this time at least ... he might become valuable (in MTL or in a trade) in a year or two.
As for the rest (Shaw, Leks & a 2nd) ... sure why not, we have many picks this year. - Garfield512
Could even trade Drouin for a D |

I wouldn't be opposed to that either if the return is good.
Leks and Drouin are perimeter players while Shaw is damaged goods (concussions), too bad because Shaw is the kind of guy you need in the playoffs. |

Probably the wrong time to trade Drouin. Not that I'm opposed to it but I'd rather rehab his value first if possible |

Shaw or Byron + 2nd + Fleury or Juulsen for Ghost. Would Philly do that? |

He is also coming off nose surgery, so might be hard to trade him. |

Damn, these contracts are getting ridiculous ... 7 years!!!
UFA signings are a great way to tie your hands for many years (ie. Karl Alzner) ... this Hayes contract has buyout written all over it in 5 years.
Avoid at all cost ... stick to drafting and regular trades. |

Yep ... let him get it somewhere other than Montreal.
PS: A lot of guys are going bonkers in the Flyers thread, they're mad as hell about their 2 latest deals. Can't say I blame them one bit. |

I would never go over 4-5 years for ANY player unless it's a superstar.
Too much risks involved ... cap space is a resource that needs to be carefully managed just like any other asset. Risk Management 101.
What good is it for your team if you can't afford to surround your stars with other good players? |

Not as bad as the Hayes deal ... trade with San Jose ...
The Sharks were in a bit of a cap space bind because of the Eric Karlsson signing so they traded an old D (Justin Braun) to Philly to regain some space ... the problem is that instead of using that cap bind problem of the Sharks as a dealing strategy, Philly foolishly gave them a 2nd and a 3rd for him.
